I somehow manage to have $1,800 in non refundable OBC. There are few extra cost shore excursions on this voyage. So how would you spend the credit? We aren't real spa guys, although we might do one in this situation. Anything else we should splurge on? In the past we had a long cruise with LOTS of NR OBC. We did cash in the refundable (R) OBC. We used most of it for shore excursions. I think upgrading to small group shore excursions is the best use, but superior red wines/Champagne comes a close second! Plus, on very long cruises, a hair tint and trim is a necessity.
ChucktownSteve Posted July 15, 2022 #28 Share Posted July 15, 2022 If it's not a lot of refundable, no problem getting the cash from guest relations. However with the larger R OBC, our TA has started just mailing us a rebate check after the cruise. Much more convenient than carrying a large sum off the ship. Some cruise lines let them just apply the R OBC to lower the booked fare as if we made the payment.
Wendy The Wanderer Posted July 15, 2022 #29 Share Posted July 15, 2022 Suddenly I'm in this situation. An 11-day Splendor Caribbean trip in January 2023. Over $1100 to spend. We just booked, and on checking the excursions, I found no private cars listed at any of the islands, and only one Choice excursion (that we've already done, on Aruba). I'm thinking it won't be too hard to spend that at the spa, but I'd rather spend it on Choice excursions, frankly. Oh, and I don't drink any more, so high-priced wines are out, since my husband can't drink a whole bottle himself. Perhaps we'll get a bottle of Veuve one night and I'll splurge with glass. RetiredandTravel Posted July 15, 2022 #30 Share Posted July 15, 2022 There are shops you might find something you like. If you are only having one drink I'd recommend bumping the Champagne up to Dom or Krug category, what the heck. I think if your husband only drinks 1/2 a bottle they will save the rest for the next night, never an issue with us but I've heard. Enjoy your trip. Rare mj_holiday Posted July 15, 2022 #31 Share Posted July 15, 2022 I was looking for a Choice excursion with a private car at a port and there wasn't one listed, and my TA got a quote for me.

Presently on the Voyager with 16 year-old grandson on his first trip outside U.S. If allowed, he would have spend the $1800 in the Regent shops buying gifts for his friends! I didn't even know that male teens used cologne and perfume - go figure!

Rare ronrick1943 Posted July 28, 2022 #37 Share Posted July 28, 2022 Well, we had a large of OBC, we purchased a world globe that turns, and a few extra teddy bears. That’s besides the normal stuff. We laughed about the globe, but it really is a conversation item at home.
