aaeryk Posted July 18, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2022 I started cruising when I met my now wife. I'm Red and about 2 sailings away from Gold. She's Gold now, she was under the impression that when we got married I would be bumped up to Gold. Is that true?
jsglow Posted July 18, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2022 No. You each maintain your own VIFP level.
cruisingguy007 Posted July 18, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) Nope, it's individual. Each person has their own VIFP numbers. We will all turn gold (kids included) after our next sailing (on subsequent sailing) but that's because we sail together. Other lines make it a bit easier with bonus points for onboard spend, suite bonuses and such but Carnival is only nights onboard and with large gaps after gold. mz-s Posted July 18, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2022 I wish - my wife has been platinum for 2 cruises now (she cruised with her family before we met) while I'm still a few days away, still on Gold.
vwrestler171 Posted July 18, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2022 When she makes Platinum, you may share some of the benefits with her(priority boarding, cabin ready first, etc), but you will retain your own VIFP tier.

gazingm42 Posted July 19, 2022 #9 Share Posted July 19, 2022 While the VIFP levels are benefits earned to you or her level not each other. However when this said if She is platinum for an example, you can ride her tailcoat and get pricing based on her status if you travel and book the same room. Likewise if one of you is age 55 and the other is 50. Each in that room gets the discount. There platinum benefits that both you can take advantage of when only one of you is that level. Such as platinum bag tags, etc.

Carnival doesn't do that but some lines do, as strange as it may sound so I can see how she could have thought Carnival had a similar policy. This is from Royal Caribbean's Crown and Anchor Society site: A Crown & Anchor Society member can be added into a relationship with other family members in the same household and receive equivalent tier status; however Cruise Points will remain according to actual cruises taken and calculated using the Program level accrual system described above. Pinnacle Club member tier status will not be awarded to dependents if earned by their parent and/or guardian. Pinnacle Club member tier status can only be earned by an individual, spouse or significant other by one of them accumulating 700 Cruise Points or more in the CAS program. For all tiers except Pinnacle Club, a relationship is defined as a spouse or significant other and children less than 18 years old. For Pinnacle Club a relationship is considered a spouse and/or significant other.

Toss on some Spring Love to up the ante. Heck, toss on Stevie B's greatest hits and you may end up with a diamond girl and a blue card when all is said and done. 😁 Edited July 20, 2022 by cruisingguy007

I also think when people stay in your cabin, they get some of the benefits like the cocktail party, dinner and priority debarkation when available. Things change I know but she is still emerald

Too bad on carnival it doesnt work. On rcl if we got married you could be diamond plus. 5 free drinks a day. Lol someone started a it's not fair thread on rcl and suggested he got married. He is joking around of course. No one gets married for perks .. I dont think lol. Rcl does it for spouses and minor children so I'm not surprised the op is asking. Easy to get lines mixed up. Rare carohs Posted July 20, 2022 #21 Share Posted July 20, 2022 Plan. Get married. Get perks. Get annulment. Hmmm. How difficult is an annulment? Can they take away the perks at this point? Asking for a friend.
