It's hardly easy to catch.  How about showing our smallpox vaccine scar?  Those of us over 50 should all have one 🙂

I think you meant .039%, not 0.39%.  The latter would be 1.31 million.

Yes, typo.  Thanks.

I tried to edit it but it isn't an option.  Don't know why?  I can edit this one!

Yep, but mine isn't really visible anymore.  I think it is about 60 something years old.  I do remember hating that scab though!  😁

No no no, please, nobody try to turn the following statement into a political statement.

We can tackle this problem but we are too PC to do it.

Carnival is sticking with a 3 day testing window for vaccinated, and have now lumped unvaccinated testing into the same 3 day window, (that is different than Royal)

They have  also dropped the PCR testing requirement for unvaccinated children (2 and older) and have done away with “check in” testing for unvaccinated children, antigen testing 3 days prior to embarkation is accepted for this group, (also different than Royal)

This is huge news if we can reasure this on their website. This will definitely shift our planed cruise with five staterooms to carnival since we have multiple cabins with kids. Thanks for that information.

Edit: I understand now. Antigen, no PCR anymore. Still, a deal breaker not to book.

Smallpox vaccine does not last forever but it should provide some immunity. I remember getting vaccinated and getting a booster. And people complain about covid vaccine side effects, nothing compared to the smallpox vax they had then.

I will get a second Covid  booster when the new formulation comes out this fall. I have been witing for that. Saw no reason to get another dose of the same old same old.

I was too young to remember getting it.

So we are paying more for port, fees and taxes, insurance and now we have to pay for covid tests that they could pay us to take since we are helping them by cruising.   It's getting ridiculous!

I don't understand your post.    You say Now we have to pay for covid tests.     that is due to the recent change in federal funding (US tax $) for testing.     Would you rather your tax dollars go to free testing?      with feds paying for it we were all paying for the people that tested weekly or sometimes several times a week for various reasons.

Do you cruise to help them or cruise for a vacation?

Carnival requires that your jabs be up-to-date.  That includes all boosters that you are eligible for.  I wasn't ever going to cruise with them anyway.

The new formula will be a year outdated by the time it hits the market.

Can't tell if you are being snarky or not. Obviously I don't avoid all other places in life as I noted I have a cruise booked. As a matter of fact, I have been to Disney (X2), St. Louis, Asheville, Savannah, New Orleans, Atlanta, Gulf Shores, Panama City Beach, Smoky Mountains (X3), Charleston, Louisville and Braselton, GA since 2020 on leisure trips/vacations. I have never had Covid either. So believe it or not, there are people who can believe in testing before a cruise who aren't "living in fear holed up at home in Covid Prison". However, I do believe that cruises are a unique type of vacation because of the inability to avoid crowds like you can on land vacations.

Also, never said I was worried about everything and everybody. But I do have concerns that folks won't stay home if sick on my cruise....one worry about one subject. 😉

Over the years I've found it very easy to cruise and avoid the crowds, but one has to march to a different drummer.

I get up early and do my exercise walk - inside corridors if it's really hot outside, promenade if it's not.  By then I'm ready for breakfast as the buffet opens or I can wait a bit and eat in the MDR.  Then I grab a good book or my tablet, a cup of coffee,t and find a shady spot on the promenade to read.  I avoid the lunchtime crowds and grab something in one of the snack bar or coffee bars. If I'm a little more hungry, I'll eat lunch in the MDR.  Then it's time for an afternoon walk on the promenade before it's time to shower and get ready for the loyalty lounge with some finger foods and a wee dram.

I avoid crowds by staying out of the buffet at peak times, away from the Melanoma Deck with too loud music or movie, skipping the evening meal in the MDR, and avoiding the over amplified production shows.

This has never been a covid thing, I just prefer to avoid crowds and have found it easy to do on ships of every size.

There are and always be a bunch of different opinions. Some based on reading science, some based on politics some based on gut feeling. I will do what I think is best, Others can do what they think is best.

I could not avoid crowds on a cruise but I don't avoid crowds now at home. Since being vacinated I have been going to symphony and pop concerts. Chamber music last Sunday. I have been going to restaurants. Been to the ballpark and going again Wednesday when the Orioles come to to town.  I only have so many years left and I am not going to imprison myself.

The boosters expected to be available in Sept/Oct will be formulated for the omicron BA4/5 that are out now. Granted, by then we may be dealing with 6 or 7, but that’s still not a year out of date. It’ll be a lot closer than the existing boosters which are still based on OG/Delta (those are a year out of date!)

Just an FYI:  In my tourist area of NW Florida businesses are not requiring masks, people for the most part are not wearing masks.  If you expect everyone around you to wear a mask don't vacation in NW Florida.  I guess I don't understand people coming here and then complaining because even though they wore a mask not many other people wore them.  When we go places I research as much as I can to see what the policies are and if there is a hint that we would have to wear a mask at any point we don't go there.

Same here - if a place requires me to mask, I won't go.  The exceptions were doctor's offices and airplanes, but they are all mask-optional now.  We'll be in Perdido Key in 2 weeks, looking forward to a mask-less vacation.  If we get COVID again, so be it - I won't blame anyone.

Sorry, I don't consider going to Disney once (even when unrestricted capacity), let alone twice, as avoiding crowds.  Disney is the definition of crowds.  And it doesn't matter masked or not masked.

Your concerns of people cruising while sick, please define sick.  Cold, Hay Fever, Head Ache, Cancer, COVID, Hang Nail, HIV, what?  I'm telling you, if I have a cold, I'm cruising.  If I have symptoms of a cold, I'm cruising because there is no full refund for a cold.  I may have symptoms of a cold, test negative on the day of embarkation and come up positive a few days into the cruise.  That's the chance we all take, that's called life!

I just won a lottery for $10 tickets to see Hamilton. The theater is masks required, and you better be sure for $10 tickets, I will wear a mask. I have waited to long to see this play. 🤣🤣🤣

We went to see Andrea Bocelli at State Farm Arena in ATL early this year.  Masks were only required while going through security.  A month later, we wen tot see Steve Martin and Martin Short at The Fox Theater in ATL - masks were required the whole time except when eating/drinking and they had 5x as many ushers as normal enforcing it.  We saw some people escorted out because they were "drinking too often".

Yeah, the ushers were ruthless.  This was before the show started.  Once the show started, they were slightly more relaxed about it.
