New Vaccine requirements?

Just received this. Is the booster requirement new? When I booked I thought it was Recommended.

Please be advised that due to the length and itinerary of this voyage, all guests 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and, if eligible, have received a COVID-19 booster. Eligibility is determined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) definition, which is available on their website at https://*****/cdc_booster. Boosters can be received any time up to embarkation. Guests 5 years or older who are under 18 must be fully vaccinated (or go through an exemption process) but will not require a booster. Children under 5 years of age do not need to be vaccinated.

It must be specific to one of the ports you are visiting?  In Europe, if it is 270 days past your original vaccinations, you need a booster.

Requirements may change at any time. Looks like a booster is required for those 18 and over. Easy to get. Widely available.

I believe it depends on the country.  The EU required boosters in March but things constantly change.

We are double vaccinated and double boostered. We don't have a problem with those requirements. It's the dang pre-cruise test that is a pain in the derriere. At least they did away with the requirement for a negative test to fly back to the US.

We are on the same cruise.  No impact for us as we are already double boosted.  There is a lot of discussion on the cruise roll call about this.

We were on this one and had to cancel.  
 

Because it is a longer than 10 day cruise, there may be concerns in case someone became very ill, there is a limited amount of hospitals in these tiny towns in Greenland.  Or, the hospitals may be near capacity.  Also, leaving from NY, which has a high rate of covid.  Many things could be a factor.  The important thing, the booster can be taken anytime before sailing.

 

We are double boosted, so it would not have been a problem.

 

Princess has stated many times, highly recommend as some countries may require the booster or rules could rapidly change.

Maybe not totally related to the post, but.....

My wife and I had 4 Pfizer Covid Vaccines, my son had three.

I developed Covid in May, very mild case, but was treated with Paxlovid anyway.

Both my wife and my son were test positive after the cruise;  in retrospect, they feel that they may, and I stress may, have developed mild symptoms the last day of the cruise.

Fortunately both my wife and son had fairly mild symptoms, but again they were also treated with Paxlovid.

Would be good if PCL could treat those OB who want Paxlovid with it.  
Maybe check with your Dr ahead of time to see if you’re a candidate for it?

 

Do you feel it really makes a difference in the recovery?

I believe that it is a "Game Changer"  I am a physician who has prescribed it, and individuals will resond within 1-2 days.  

The ships should definitely carry this medication.
