I was doing an edit when you responded...be sure to check out the extra info.

DT breakfasts are good. Dinners are OK. We usually walk over to the 22nd Street Landing for dinner.

Thanks

What is/was that?

They are probably gone by now. They were on Yucaipa Blvd close to the freeway. It was a BBQ place where most people picked up To Go. BBQ chicken, ribs, fantastic cole slaw and potato salad, etc.

Next time we're over that way, I'll watch for it...but I think they're gone. Too bad, we love BBQ.

No matter how many times people are warned to not book with EZAir they continue to do it. I just can't figure it out. Always book your own flights directly with the airline to arrive AT LEAST the day before your cruise. So simple!

I could tell you our Port of Shanghai story,  but will spare you the details other than to say that if we hadn’t had EZAir flights, we’re likely still be sitting either in the Sapphire Princess casino trying to get a signal (internet or phone) to re-book our flights when the port was closed and we’d missed our flight, or we’d be in the terminal there waiting for a taxi to take us who knows where to spend a night or two before we could get another flight out.

There are many reasons to use Ez Air.  Re-booked flights, and an hour transfer each way to a really nice hotel (free to us) and then the airport the next day are just a couple of them.

Question for those knowledgeable about EZAir: what are the pros (if any) and cons of requesting early ticketing?

Background: Our only experience with EZAir was on our 7/20 British Isles cruise, and we were happy with our experience. However, we requested early ticketing for two reasons, and in retrospect I'm not sure either reason was actually valid. The first reason was that we were worried the price would go up if they weren't ticketed, and the price on the airline website had doubled. The second was that we wanted to pick seats for our BA business class seats, and we didn't realize that BA doesn't offer free seat selection in business class.  Are there circumstances when you think requesting early ticketing is a good idea?

You can manage your fare up until final payment. And the make adjustment until 45 days out. First time using EZ Air.  I was able to save about 10% after final payment and 45 days out.  Still waiting for them to officially transfer it to airlines 30-45 days.).  My fare with the airline has jumped, but I am locked in to lower fare.

Many airlines are now charging for seats, baggage, food, etc.  I just don’t understand this concept.  Who travels with no luggage and is in designated standing room area?  Sorry for mini rant.

Pros:

a) Can select seats if the airline would otherwise not allow this before ticket is issued

b) Can pay for upgrade if you want one once the ticket is issued

Cons:

a) No more pricing/cancellation flexibility. Terms will be the same as if you had booked directly with the airline.

Note: So far flight prices have not increased for anyone who waiting until final payment time to pay for the flights.

Thanks @caribill. What about the situations where your disembarkation day flight no longer works, whether it's due to the ship arriving late or some other disruption such as the rare cases where the ship ends up disembarking at a different port? In that case does it matter whether you requested early ticketing or not, and will EZAir take care of rebooking you regardless?

I've been reading about all the people disrupted by the recent cancellations of cruises, especially Diamond Princess, and thinking about how much better off you would be in that situation to have used EZAir versus your own air.

If there is a problem on disembarkation day, it does not matter when you paid the fare. The EZAir people will help you. Same for when you fly to the port at the start of the cruise.

Reasons people use EZAir:

a) Can rebook for lower price up to 45 days before flying/cruise

b) If you can cruise before that 45 days, there is no penalty and you get your $$$ back if you had paid

c) If Princess cancels the cruise, you get your $$$ back if paid

d) For International flights, EZAir can cost significantly less

And if you want to arrive at least the day before the cruise, EZAir allows that also.

Not always they booked us same day said nothing available day prior, but would be in 4 hours before we sail. They did change our flight twice each time getting later in the day, transfer is between 10-11 they had us arriving at 11:45. Just got it changed and we arrive at 10:45 one terminal away from meeting place. How do they think we will get off a crowded plane get our bags and hike to the next terminal in 15 minutes that's if the plane is on time?

Tried to book on our own and get a hotel the night before between both the flight and hotel it was over 2K. Plan to hope for the best worse case they fly us to Hawaii :).

By saying nothing was available the previous day, they meant they had no more seats available to Princess. If you were booking the flights well in advance of the travel date, I would be surprised that they had no more such seats available.

EZAir does not change flights on their own. The airlines are the ones changing flights. The same changes would have been made if you had booked directly with the airline.

Thanks, you are always good for an answer. Question Princess paperwork has 10-11 for meeting times. They know we and sure others will be there a little after do they wait?
