firefly333 Posted August 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2022 I'm not aware the Mdr was open for lunch. Was that pre covid. I'd say only WJ and then by noon or 1 pm. Pizza was open on liberty. Didnt open as soon as WJ and we had to wait.

TIA. Amy Royal Caribbean ships have never (in the past 25 years, at least) had embarkation day lunch in the Main Dining Room, unless you were part of a specific group, like consecutive cruisers, or purchasers of The Key. Adventure has the Windjammer and Cafe Promenade. You can also pay for lunch at Chops. 1

Rare island lady Posted August 14, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2022 Agree with my friend Merion Mom. I have never seen the MDR open for lunch on embarkation day for newly boarding pax.

Rare rudeney Posted August 14, 2022 #12 Share Posted August 14, 2022 People who buy The Key, UDP, and those in suites will have additional options ,depending on the ship.

Unfortunately, if you have to get up for a refill, dodging the carry-on luggage can be quite a maze to conquer. OCVTSGIRL Posted August 14, 2022 #15 Share Posted August 14, 2022 We always go to Sorrentos for lunch no matter which ship we are on and always find it to not be crowded.

Gave up trying to find a seat and ended up in Solarium, which at that time had twice the variety it does now. Sad to see it downsized so much on Harmony. Schulenburg1 Posted May 27 #21 Share Posted May 27 Going on Jewel of the Seas, January 2025, and looking for alternative places to have lunch other than the Windjammer. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Haven't sailed on RCL since prior to Covid.
laura85 Posted May 27 #22 Share Posted May 27 On oasis class ships we usually head to the Park Cafe for lunch. It’s not as packed as the windjammer. The solarium bistro seems like a great idea too for a light lunch. May try that on our next cruise!
The Fun Researcher Posted May 27 #23 Share Posted May 27 We've started the tradition of booking a specialty restaurant for lunch on embarkation day. Of course it costs extra.... ~$15-25 plus gratuity but it does keep you out of the chaos of the Windjammer specifically on embarkation day for lunch. Giovanni's or Chops should be available for day 1 lunch.
Rare island lady Posted May 27 #24 Share Posted May 27 For us...on ships that have CK...that is our "go to" for lunch. Nice to have a quiet lunch while waiting for our cabin to open. Our other favorite class of ship (the Radiance ladies), we hit the salad bar in the WJ and the bar for a beer and wine, taking all out to the al fresco dining area in the aft. On ships that have neither...agree with others. Solarium bistro/cafe is a good choice.
Schulenburg1 Posted May 27 #25 Share Posted May 27 Thanks for all the responses. Looks as if it will have to be Windjammer since it's a Radiance class ship.
