Who or what is Fortuna Luck?

I may be late to the game but what is Fortuna Luck that you all seem to discuss?

A persona used by a member of the cruise staff (not sure if she's under the cruise director's staff or casino department)  primarily for hosting the bingo games on the ship, but apparently used elsewhere as well.

The character wears a costume of a female pirate.  Red wig, tricorn hat, short, frilly skirt in satin or the like, boots with the tops turned down, and a plastic cutlass.  Not particularly risque, but if you've ever been to a Halloween party, I'm sure you've seen a chick dressed up in a similar costume.

She also appears an assistant on Deal or No Deal. She is actually part of the production show team. We met the girl playing her on a shore trip and she too hated the character.

A harmless character and funny that is used in Bingo and a few other ventures to liven up the activity.  No less annoying than a yappy humorless cruise director.

They hire actresses, most I've spoken to are NY based.

They play both roles, Miss. Luck and the Pirate Queen on the casino.

Interesting.  Thanks to all who chimed in.  I'm not sure whether to look forward to seeing her on upcoming cruises or not 😞  The consensus seems to be not too popular a character.

You guys are to hard on Fortuna Luck. We think she makes bingo more interesting and fun. Some of the jokes may be corny, but so what. She is real friendly and pleasant to talk to. Here's a picture of us with her on the Sky Princess back in February.

We just ignored her. We didn't do anything in which she was involved. I'm sure there are probably those who love the character. To us, she is in the same category as Stanley Bear and McKinley Moose - of zero interest and difficult to understand the attraction.

Agree that she is a very positive character and it is really hard to understand the Fortuna Haters on CC because she is harmless.  Maybe they find the make a paper airplane, egg drop, guess the number in the jar contests way more enlightening Princess activities.

 

But at least they have turned their fire on someone else besides those who do not wear formal dress to the MDR on formal nights.  I feel like we are all growing on CC.

It’s the stupidity at her attempts at comedy that’s the issue. Discovery in April was horrible… I almost walked out of bingo over it

We didn't even play Bingo on our Alaska cruise because of Fortuna Luck.  NEVER skipped Bingo before but we just can't endure her.  Every game and every show and every Bingo she does takes twice as long.  UGH!

Horrible!  I even mentioned her in our review...so stupid.

We are with most here and find the character highly annoying as it always feels forced and like she is trying too hard.

 

Your opinion is going to depend on your personality. Can only recommend you experience the character for yourself and form your own opinion.

Reminds me of a drag queen I once encountered called Mary K Mart.  Mary K was a bit more flamboyant, but just as annoying.
