Rare mj_holiday Posted September 7, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2022 What are the advantages to booking a future cruise while on board? Lower deposit, cruise discount etc.
crzrr Posted September 7, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2022 Yes - both of those. The deposit is typically $550 per person (1/2 of the normal deposit). Also, a discount based on loyalty status. In addition, if you book in the first half of your cruise, you get on OBC of $300. If it's in the second half of your cruise, you get $200. ProfessorB Posted September 9, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2022 I have a related question. What happens if the price goes down after you get off the ship? Will you still get the percent discount on the new lower price (assuming its before final payment)? Thanks

Thanks Our experience has been that the booking onboard discount does transfer over when prices go down.

lizee1979 Posted September 12, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2022 On the Pursuit there was no future cruise sales manager. Someone had stepped in and basically relayed everything back to head office. Still waiting for someone to contact me post disembarkation to book with the same questions raised still unanswered. Total shambles. Phoned customer service and was cut off after an hour.
Rare mj_holiday Posted September 12, 2022 Author #7 Share Posted September 12, 2022 Do the benefits of booking onboard continue for a certain number of days after your cruise has ended?

They do not, they are onboard only and the higher OBC benefit ($300) only applies for the first half of the cruise thereafter it is $200

azalice Posted September 25, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2022 Lizee1979, We were also on Pursuit Sept. 6-17. Contacted our TA to future book and he said no one at Azamara knew about their statement that we had two weeks after cruise to do an official future booking. They gave us extra time because no one onboard our cruise was available to do it. The lady had the job of concierge and was not able to function as future booking also. Azamara staff announced the extra time to book during the cruise. So far, no word from our TA that they will honor their commitment.
Roel94 Posted September 26, 2022 #13 Share Posted September 26, 2022 What happened to Elisa? She was there in August. But for five days when she had to fly home and come right back. you have to be trained in using the booking system. Her helper upped And quit in the middle of a cruise. azalice Posted September 27, 2022 #14 Share Posted September 27, 2022 Got word about our future booking commitment from Azamara. They had promised the loyalty discount up to two weeks after the cruise because they had no one functioning as future cruise consultant on our last cruise. They owed us a 5 percent discount as we are what they call “adventurer status.” They just gave us 4%. Why 4 instead of 5%? Who knows. Really out of touch with what their staff has promised onboard. I know the 1% is not a big deal, but the principle of it still bothers me. We are rethinking using Azamara next year even though we will lose part of our deposit if we cancel.Even that seems unusual. Do most cruise lines charge for cancelling when you are 13 months from the cruise?

Many do, especially higher-end cruise lines. Although some of them will convert it into FCC for a future booking. This is a long-standing Azamara practice – but like everything it may be reviewed by the new ownership.
