After my gym workout this morning, I decided to go check out the situation on the Covid deck. First lesson learned- don’t try to take elevator down to deck 9! It juddered to a halt and started flashing between 16 and 17. My heart gave a little flutter and I had visions of being stuck there for the day but luckily when I pressed the open door button it opened on deck 15. Phew.

Since I was all the way aft, I walked down to deck 9. Both sides of Dolphin aft were blocked. I then walked down to 8 and walked the hallway to midship and back up to 9, Both sides of Dolphin mid were blocked off. Back down to 8, walked to forward and up to 9. Both sides of Dolphin forward blocked off. So zero access to Dolphin deck on this sailing. No idea if there is anyone quarantined but they are certainly prepared for a number of cases!

@ceilidh Thank you for the great updates.  If possible, would love one or two pics of the cardio equipment mainly the steppers, arm motion machines, etc.   Hubby is in Cardiac Rehab after a double bypass, and we will be doing his first post-surgery cruise on the Royal in early November.  Would like to be able to show the cardia rehab people the equipment on board to have them develop a plan for him for the week.  No worries if you can't.  I totally get it!

Retreat pool

Thanks so much for your excellent commentary about your sailing. I’m really enjoying your posts! Do you know how deep the retreat pool is? Are there many people in it when the ship is sailing or is it usually to windy? We are on the Royal in November and January and can’t wait for our sailings.

ceilidh1- Great job going to the gym and  trying to navigate your way to deck 9 front and back, I’d say time to go to the bar .

I’m definitely arm chairing your cruise . I’m not ready to cruise with masks on so, I love hearing everyone’s perspective on their cruises and yours is great .not too many out there live from Posts, yours is very informative.

This is my fourth cruise this year. The first three were masks recommended but not required. Ironically, around 90% of passengers on these sailings wore masks. This one is masks required and I would say 90% are not wearing them. It’s not enforced at all. We wear ours at all times, partly because I’m a rule follower. Lol. I wouldn’t say I feel any less at risk than I am at work everyday, where no one is required to wear a mask. The mask/no mask doesn’t bother me either way. What is frustrating is that if Princess is going to the effort of making this rule, why not enforce it? Or else not bother with it…

The two times I have gone to the retreat when sailing it has been closed due to weather. This is Alaska so probably not the norm. In Juneau it was open but empty as most people were off ship.I plan on doing another walk through later so will check out the depth for you

I will get some pictures later today or when I go to work out tomorrow. I’m surprised how many people are using the gym early in the morning. It’s well equipped and comparable to my gym at home

Since we didn’t eat breakfast this morning we went for an early lunch. Had no idea it was the British pub lunch as it wasn’t advertised. We got the fish and chips, which was ok…not great. I also asked for vinegar and it came in a small bowl as opposed to the bottle!? Maybe a Covid thing? Needless to say, my chips ended up saturated in vinegar as I had no means to sprinkle it over them. Lol

I think you got quite the workout this morning going between Decks 8 and 9.  That seems to be a very large amount of covid quarantine cabins.  Maybe that is why your ship "feels" empty?

Being "maybe" stuck in an elevator is not fun.  Good thing you have a really good go to bar.

This cruise is going by way too quickly.  Hope the kids are enjoying themselves.  I know they are hiding ducks.  Were they able to find any?

That's a bummer about the premier drinks....I'd be ticked if I purchased the pkg and couldn't find something/anything in the premium cost category.

Sorry to hear the BFF is being so rude.

I took a group of 10 high school graduates on a cruise after my daughter's HS graduation (5 boys and 5 girls).....I know, what was I thinking.   This was pre cell phone era (or at least the kids didn't have them).   I had a pre-cruise meeting at my house and laid out the ground rules (with the parents) before we sailed.    They had to arrive at dinner on time, and be appropriately dressed....and a few other odds and ends.   I needed all their tip $ before we sailed, etc.

Things went well until the boys figured out how to smuggle clear tequila back onboard in a water bottle.   The dumbasses all got so drunk they were all sick on the last day.   They thought tequila and pear juice would be a good combo.    They all still talk about it....and my DD will be 40 next Monday.

What is the "Sports Bar" on deck 6 forward where Elite, Platinum and Club Class Guests meet for disembarkation?  I don't see this on any deck plans online.

Perhaps the Casino Bar/Club 5 Bar. The only bar(s) on deck 6 forward.

The bar that was called Take 5. It’s now a combo of sports bar with big screen tvs and casino.

I’m curious about these Princess Prizes. I’m addition to the $25 OBC that was posted to my account, I have been getting multiple entries into the draw. It gives the message that the games team will provide more info but we only have one more day left and so far nothing…anyone have any info on it?

Deepest portion is 6”11 and shallow end is 4”11. Sun is shining today and there were 3 in the hot tub, 3 in the pool, and 2 on loungers. It was a little windy but the pool users said the water wasn’t cold. I suspect this is another area that many haven’t discovered

Thanks for checking on this. I’m happy to hear it has a deep end. I really don’t care for the shallow pools they have on the newer royal class ships.
