dabear Posted November 6, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2022 When the port is away from town doe A provide shuttle service to town? Specifically, our cruise docks at the ports for Bordeaux, France which is 3km from town & Milford, Wales. Is there a shuttle or do we need to arrange for transportation ? laurieb Posted November 6, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2022 The ship docks right in Bordeaux, so no need for a shuttle.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted November 6, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2022 Remember that Azamara ships are much smaller than the mass-market mega-ships. They are often able to dock much closer than you expect, as noted above. [Barcelona is particularly nice, right at the World Trade Center at the foot of Las Ramblas.]
Rare uktog Posted November 6, 2022 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2022 if there is a walk of more than about 1.5 km Azamara will provide a shuttle provided local taxi unions allow that. They do not allow it in Gibraltar or in Barcelona if they do not have a berth in World Trade Centre. There are no taxi unions operating in UK

So, the answer to your question is "maybe"; depends on the port. Perhaps someone with experience at Milford, Wales can provide specific guidance . As mentioned, Bordeaux dock for Azamara is downtown, close to the river boats. If you enjoy public transportation in Bordeaux, the local tram stops across the street from Azamara dock and offers a 24- hour travel pass for €5. I believe the large ships dock much father away (3km?)
Host Hattie Posted November 6, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2022 Are you sure you're docking at Milford Haven? I would think it's a tender port. https://www.milfordwaterfront.co.uk/discover/cruise-ship-visits#

iana1212 Posted November 10, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Re Barcelona. We were on recent cruise and didn’t berth at the World Trade Centre. Azamara provided a free shuttle from the main cruise terminal to the World trade Centre where you can just walk to the town.

Always at WTC prior and we could see that there was space all day at WTC.

Azamara provided a free shuttle from the main cruise terminal to the World trade Centre where you can just walk to the town. We were also in Barcelona on a recent cruise and were docked at Moll Adossat Terminal C, not at World Trade Center. We were overnighting before disembarkation day, which for us, on a B2B, was turnaround day for the next cruise. Since we had a private tour on the first day with pickup at the port, we didn't pay attention to any shuttles offered by the ship. However, the next day, since it was disembarkation/embarkation, the only shuttle was the Cruise Terminal shuttle bus that stops at the various terminals on Moll Adossat. We were the first to board the bus we took in the morning, but as it made the rounds to an MSC ship, it was packed. It is 3 euros one way, 4.50 round trip cash only. Helpful to have exact change. Returning to the ship, there were crowds of pushy people jamming the cruise shuttle buses. Glad we gave ourselves an extra hour before all aboard to return to the ship.
