you will need to wait another week for carnival to move your booking. on the magic i had a porthole cabin booked and when checked the deck plans, i see the veneiza only has 1 porthole cabin. i too am waiting for my new cabin

Just did a mock booking and L shaped are available on deck 2 but none on deck 1 which was the only one left when I booked.  They don't give me L shaped and I'm gonna be MAD!!!!

Price is the same.  Can I cancel first booking and rebook for the cabin I selected?  I had this on deck 2 in September.  When I booked for 6/19/23 deck 2 were taken-one cabin left on deck one.

it depends on how the first one is booked. if its an early saver booking be careful with the penalty and lost of deposits

I had spa balcony rooms reserved on my July 2023 Magic cruises.  Since there is no thermal spa on the Venezia, I'm concerned about what room Carnival is going to switch me into.  I paid a higher price for my spa balconies and will not be happy with a regular balcony on the Venezia for the same price I paid.  Will be curious to see how the ship to ship room swaps work out.

Well, I can tell you that from paying extra (not as much as in your case, but still extra) on Freedom for a Lido balcony, when we were moved to Spirit we were placed under the Serenity area with no acknowledgement of a downgrade. We were told it was still a balcony. A couple we chatted with onboard had paid a LOT more for an aft wrap balcony and were moved to a suite with a regular sized balcony. They were not happy but were also told it was a comparable trade and in order to get back into an aft wrap it would be an additional $1000. I wish you luck.

Had a chance to watch a few walk throughs of the ship tonight and it looks beautiful.  Comparing it to the videos I had watched of Magic this is by far an upgrade to us.  Oddly enough with this being our intro cruise on Carnival we were looking forward to a typical Carnival type vibe onboard to compare it against our experience on RCCL.  This definitely will not be the case.  Either way we are along for the ride so to speak.  We are just in a lowly inside stateroom with it being a casino COMP so the stateroom doesn't much matter to us.  We spend little time in the room anyway.

I wonder how many of the traditional Carnival venues they will have in place before our sailing in Sept of 2023?

California has a much bigger population and plenty of residents in surrounding states like AZ and NV that drive in regularly, we even have lots of folks from WA & OR who drive up and down I-5. If Florida can fill ships then there is no reason California couldn't do the same to a lesser degree (with FL being a retiree state).

I think the real problem is the lack of interesting ports in the Pacific. If you want a typical "beach vacation" cruise it's the Mexican Riviera ports, or if you can take a 2 week cruise then you can get to Hawaii (which I would love to do sometime, but unless you're retired you probably can't take that much time off work so easily, let alone take the kids out of school). To get to any of the islands in the South Pacific would take even longer.

I DID NOT get an email about this change.  I'm sailing Magic 6/19/23. I specifically picked my cabin-L shaped OV.  Now my reservations say cabin TBA.  WTH????

We are in the same boat Karry. We are booked on a B2B in September in a bowling alley balcony which is now a different category on the Venezia. Anxious to see what we are assigned. 😎

A bit of background we have only sailed on RCCL up until this point.  We wanted to try Carnival as a comparative.  So my wife went through the Fun Match program based on our current RCCL offers and we managed to grab a good offer on a 7 say sailing in Sept of 2023 on Magic.  The itinerary worked for us etc.  This morning my wife received an email to say that we are going to be switched to the Venezia.  Which I guess is a ship coming over from Costa.  We had done a little research on Magic and while it definitely isn't the biggest or newest we thought it seemed fine.  With this new ship we know nothing of it.  Does anyone have any information on it at all?

Like the similarly-built Carnival Vista class, this ship gets some of the worst space-to-passenger ratio scores in the industry.   Plus, no SkyBox sports bar.

i'm not sure if you have sailed out of NYC before, but if not, I wouldn't judge this as being a typical carnival type of vibe.  i have only sailed out of NYC once, 2019, pre pandemic and i swore i'd never sail out of NYC again because the people were just...the worst (and this is my home port).  the typcial carnival vibe i'd say can be found out of miami/ tampa sailing, but nyc sailing, the people just felt extra rude.  i'm going to try this out of NYC again because 1.  i haven't cruised since 2019 and i just really want to be on any ship  2.  flights for the 4 of us were ridiculous so i'll give it another shot out of NYC. maybe we were just on a particularly bad sailing.   just tossing it out that even though not really related to the topic at all, i don't think any carnival ship sailing out of nyc is the best comparison to other lines

Someone previously stated that there are less suites on this ship.

i am clinging to the hope that many people will be up in arms and angry as people can be EXTRA..but with that anger, they cancel their suites and i can snag one!!!  fingers crossed for your adjoining rooms as well.

Are they ALLOWED to do this?  I can understand changing itinerary because of weather conditions, or MAYBE exchange a ship from the same class, for example, Pride for Miracle, but an entirely different ship?

Yes. Read your ticket contract.

Ok, one more "glitch"-I reserved Steakhouse for first night.  It's not showing up on my booking.  When I click on specialty dining there's nothing....you can't even make a reservation.  I paid with CC on 10/2.  They going to honor this?

That is a good point. It's either a quick jaunt to Ensenada, AK, Mex Riv or HA. It would be nice to have a northern port that could do some quick Canada runs but it may be wishful thinking. There is some potential for longer South America runs but I think you're right in that most folks want the shorter cruises of 7 days or under.

I am happy we will have year long cruising out of NY because I usually have to find flight for 6 people to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. I agree with New Yorkers being a rowdy crowd. What's worse is that my July cruise will be in the summer so on top of the rowdy crowd we will have to deal with teenagers running around. That being said, the ship is big enough for me to find my own "serenity".

We aren't really sports bar fans so that doesn't really cause us any grief.  Then again we've only tried Playmakers on a cruise ship and didn't care for it.

As for space-to-passenger ratio scores I guess we hope for a less crowded sailing.  We are booked on the Sept 8 sailing after labor day so I hope that keeps the pax count down.

The main reason some people book particular cruise is the port of calls and even that is subject to change.

We have only sailed out of Bayonne and Baltimore.  Always on RCCL.  3 times.  We've had no issues whatsoever with the people.  The Baltimore sailing had a slightly higher percentage of blue collar type people but that suited us just fine.  Port workers we've encountered were fantastic to deal with, parking at both was a breeze (I drive a F-350 so I always opt for outside parking) and port access was no issue whatsoever.  Now we do live between Toronto and Hamilton Ontario which are populated with some of the most 'challenging' people out there.  Extremely rude, pushy etc, in general downright awful.  Despite what many think about Canadians in general I'd not wish a visit to Toronto on my worst enemy.  So that definitely isn't an issue for us.
