cruzadict Posted December 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2022 We are sailing on Saturday and just went into my voyage to look at taking the Drinks package and this has been increased to 70 dollars a person. When did this increase come about? Think I'll give it a miss
Host Hattie Posted December 5, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2022 How much was it before? I thought it has always been expensive for what you get.
majortom10 Posted December 5, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2022 I think it has always been $69 so don't think any price increase.
Host Hattie Posted December 5, 2022 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2022 That was what I thought, has it increased by $1 or is the OP rounding up ?
turnip eater Posted December 5, 2022 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2022 No it is $70 now, but I don’t think it was that last week. Perhaps it went up on December 1st.🙄

LittleFish1976 Posted December 6, 2022 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2022 It was 69 USD last week when they emailed me about purchasing it for my trip in February.

majortom10 Posted December 6, 2022 #12 Share Posted December 6, 2022 Also the maxim price per drink has gone up to $13 it was $12 in November on our cruise. I suppose it covers a general increase on already extortionate drink prices for those not purchasing drinks packages. Bars were very quiet in November on QV even Commodore Club was easy to get a seat pre dinner and Queens Room after dinner also very quiet.

Are drinks prices that extortionate compared to nice hotels on land? Certainly, in the summer, their very drinkable house wines were less than those in the family hotel we stayed at in Devon. BigMac1953 Posted December 6, 2022 #14 Share Posted December 6, 2022 I always think of the bar prices being the same as city centre prices.

Well, mine was by the sea in Devon. Of course the £/$ exchange rate affects things.

Yes because mice hotels have to pay alcohol duty and VAT to UK government Cunard don't pay any so making even more profit and yes taking that into account the drinks prices are extortionate. That is why bars onboard are generally very poorly attended.
majortom10 Posted December 6, 2022 #17 Share Posted December 6, 2022 My drinks were cheap in Grill Lounge in November as the waiter put them on some Ody else's bill. Even though I told the concierge that I wasn't paying for drinks and even told her the name of person who waiter was mixing me with so obviously he paid for my drinks. For that reason we stopped going there for pre dinner drinks and went to Commodore Club.
BigMac1953 Posted December 6, 2022 #18 Share Posted December 6, 2022 I seem to remember not being able to get a seat in the Golden Lion in November. Certainly the nights that the Irish folk duo were playing it was totally packed out. It was also very busy when the pianist was on.

Covepointcruiser Posted December 7, 2022 #20 Share Posted December 7, 2022 The Commodores Lounge has been very busy this crossing when we have used it. We enjoy the string trio and obviously many other passengers also enjoyed them. We did find two seats but a table had to be brought to us from the Boardroom.
