I first tried acupuncture on the Explorer many years ago. I had chronic pain in one spot on one side of my upper back. I was shocked that one session did indeed fix the problem that had hounded me for years - which traditional doctors could not alleviate. It was amazing.

It wasn't advertised that it would require multiple sessions. I was only trying to warn others not to make the same mistake I did, by not doing enough research before. If your husband is serious about quitting. I am getting to that point. He should try acupuncture, hypnosis or Chantix at home. A vacation is not the best time to try quitting. But thanks for the warning about their sessions.

But even considering that one session would cure smoking? Not even close to realistic.

sblair Posted January 11, 2023 #31 Share Posted January 11, 2023 I've found most of the 3rd party services and products that RCI allows to be sold on the ships are rip-offs. They are entirely based on a captive audience that is unable/unlikely to perform the proper research and full of sales claims that are easy to make knowing they'll never have to see the customer again in person and that most people won't realize they aren't actually dealing with RCI.

You are correct, my wife bought a facial cream by the girl giving her a massage and she promised her a "youthful" skin but all that happened was that I was about $70 poorer and my wife had a minimal can of some cream in... I still tease her about that 😂 (But of course I forget to mention my casino losses....)

But, did you both know that it takes more than one pack of smoking cigarettes to cure acupuncture addition. I've heard that non-filter cuts the amount way down and Menthol even more.

He went to his session on Day 3 and was told that "1 session won't provide any benefits" instead, he would need to have between 5 and 30 sessions, at $179 per session. What a rip off! I don't see it as a rip-off. Rather, I see it as a lesson learned ... by you and your husband. Ask, research ... before buying services. But I'm supposing the point of your posting is to suggest the same to others ... look before you leap. Thank you.

Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted January 13, 2023 #42 Share Posted January 13, 2023 I’m sorry that happened to your husband. I was curious about acupuncture on a cruise as I know locally, I was told it takes 5-11 sessions to notice a difference.
Clara H Posted January 20, 2023 #43 Share Posted January 20, 2023 Hey, I'm sorry your hubby experienced it. I'm addressing everyone who was astonished to learn that acupuncture might be a useful treatment for skin health.Facial acupuncture using intramuscular stimulation has various advantages, including enhanced skin health, increased circulation, and less inflammation. The face, neck, and scalp are some of the most typical regions to receive acupuncture treatment. Because acupuncture has an impact on numerous bodily organs and systems, it has a wide spectrum of positive effects.Additionally, studies have shown that facial acupuncture can help those with anxiety or insomnia sleep better and with less tension. Facial acupuncture has medicinal benefits, but it also has aesthetic ones, as it frequently produces softer, more youthful-looking skin.
Arzeena Posted January 21, 2023 #44 Share Posted January 21, 2023 I have had a very good experience with acupuncture on board. I am very familiar with acupuncture. MIL was certified and used to practice it. I had the therapy for pain relief on one ship for a few sessions, it worked, continued it at home. I met the same doctor on another ship and had a couple of sessions for something else. Everything was explained at the start, cost, how many sessions on ship, how to continue if needed etc. She gave me a chart to show what was done, which meridians were used, etc, down to the number and type of needles used. Never did any hard selling. Nothing is relieved in one session, except maybe sea sickness or a pulled muscle. Requires number of sessions and patience.
