sixpackeddie Posted January 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2023 We just got off the Reflection and really enjoyed the suite experience especially Lumane and Michael’s club. Found the service and food better than the Sky Suite on the Edge. We had a mid ship sky suite but would like to try the after corner sunset veranda with the wrap around balcony. Can any cc members provide which cabins are best? Thank you in advance!
jelayne Posted January 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2023 We were on Deck 10 port side -1405. We were on a Caribbean cruise and the downside was the sun beats down on the balcony & the balcony door making the balcony too hot to enjoy from about 11-5.
islabahia Posted January 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2023 Our personal preference would be 2208 or 2217 (have stayed there several times). Nice overhang to give shade for hubby and we were not bothered by noise from the Sunset Bar above.

There are quite a few pictures posted on cruisedeckplans dot com if you want to see. That is an 'obstructed view' Sky Suite because the window washing equipment is stored around the corner on the balcony. We did not actually find it overly intrusive as we could see over it and we book those after corner suites for the view of the wake more that looking forward. Here's a picture.
hampshirelad Posted January 12, 2023 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2023 We were in Suite 2217 on a 10 Day Adriatic trip in July 2022 We have had these corner suites before and as with everything there is a plus and a minus. We liked private wrap around balcony and extra space in the Suite. Great for breakfast on the balacony We did not find the vertical metal support pole in the cabin a problem. We did not bump into it in the night. We did not find the window washing equipment a distraction or obstruction . Never actually saw it in action. The entrance to the suite is tucked away behind a small passage accessed by another door. Makes it feel very private. In July we did not like the noise from the deck above from the sunset bar . This was caused by chairs being moved around at by guests and Staff at breakfast. Having said that this was very hot weather - mid summer so more dining out. On investigation you could see that the tables had been placed in such away that the chairs had to be moved constantly with the coming and going. A bit of creativity could have rearranged the Tables & Chairs and sorted this out . On other occasions we did not get this problem The solution is to look for the next deck down. However if you drop down to far you get what I call the "wedding cake effect" On your balcony you then look up on people looking down on you. At one time these were priced as standard suites, but they now add a surcharge , so we shall be taking a standard S1 this year. We prioritise the Retreat facilities and pick the best value suite available. We do not spend huge amounts of time in a cabin. Hope that helps

hampshirelad Posted January 13, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2023 Should have added that the Reflection does not have full Retreat facilities. In July 2022 there was no Retreat Deck and the Retreat Lounge was the old Michaels Club. They hide that away in the "Retreat Hype ". There is a date for updating I believe , before that don't overpay.

We did a B2B on Reflection in December 2021 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are quite fond of Michael's Club and believe that it provides a warmer experience than the Retreat Lounge. By the same token, we did 12 days on Silhouette in March - April 2022 and had just as great experience as we did on Reflection.

We we starboard on Deck 8 on Equinox for the holiday cruise and will be in the corresponding cabin on Silhouette in October. it's not really a "wrap around" balcony as you have to lean way over and still can not see down the full length of the ship. You have about three feet of space in front of the slider which is totally private from people above. The balcony is larger than I expected, but it only had one longer on Equinox. We loved it.

I will not do another ship without a Retreat deck again but Michael's club was updated and very pretty.
swigso Posted January 13, 2023 #14 Share Posted January 13, 2023 Forgot to add, the corner balcony is huge and on deck 9 no obstructed views. This was our first time in a suite, loved Michaels club and Cranston was great. We enjoyed it so much that we upgraded all our next sailings to suites, no way back it seems. Have just got to keep my wife away from those suites with the big brown doors. 😱👍
marieps Posted January 13, 2023 #15 Share Posted January 13, 2023 I forgot to mention the large circular window in addition to the slider was a huge plus for DW. The pole didn't bother her one bit.
TeeRick Posted January 14, 2023 #16 Share Posted January 14, 2023 These Aft corner Sky suites are very popular and sell out quickly. We try to get them when we sail on S-Class ships. They also have a small vestibule off the main hallway for added privacy. You go through two doors to get in your cabin. Some folks do not like this. We have stayed with or without the window washing equipment and not really a big deal to us. Neither are the polls in some of them. Port hole window is nice. Great cabins. But you definitely walk more!

Hopefully they only give it a nip and tuck when they update it and not a total makeover.

Loved the cabin, closet space, and wrap around balcony. We also were in mid ship Equinox SS which had a smaller balcony than the aft. Cabin seemed smaller as well. We prefer aft cabins so may be biased.
