Can non-refundable OBC still be used in the Casino

I just booked a cruise for 2024 and was informed that the OBC could NOT be used in the casino. Is that the case currently? I have a cruise coming up in February and was planning on using my left over non refundable OBC to have fun in the casino. (Sorry is this was posted elsewhere I couldn't find it) Thanks in advance.

Who were you informed by?

I did see a post on the big social media site yesterday that doing the room charge at one of the slots resulted in promotional play rather than straight redeemable cash like it worked previously.  It sounds they're making you cycle through the room charge amount and you can only cash out the winnings.  It was only one person that reported on this on Equinox.  Who knows if other ships are doing the same thing.  Maybe they're cracking down on this loophole?

In November on the Infinity, there was no transaction made at the slot machine itself.  We went to the cage, asked for whatever amount, and they gave a voucher for the amount (or multiple vouchers). They look identical to the vouchers that the machines spit out. Put multiple slips into one machine, got a single voucher from that machine (didn't like the $ options and wanted to play a little bit) , went to a different machine, played, got a voucher from it, and cashed in.

Were you charged a fee to obtain a voucher from your OBC amount?

Did exactly this on the Reflection two weeks ago. No fee charged at the cage.

It was the celebrity booking agent. She wanted to make sure I knew about the OBC and the Casino. I wondered if this was closing the loophole.

These agents tell a lot of tales and in the end they turn out to be just that - tales.

You could always check on the app and see what happens to the onboard account after you do the casino charge. If it deducts from the OBC all is fine and dandy, if it indeed doesn't then just cash out the cash advance and keep the money.

Are you a casino guest, BCC member with Onyx or higher status or a suite guest? In that case it's waived.

No to all. Just a regular passenger with "Classic" Captains Club status.

I sailed Equinox last week and had no problem using NR OBC for casino play and cashing out what I didn't play. Neither did my husband.

We are just off EQ and used $600 OBC between us in the casino. We play roulette so get promotional table chips.  When you win with these chips, you are paid in real money chips.  My husband actually ended up with $700 in winnings. Me, only a bit over $100.

This does coincide with the fact that slot/table credit, tournaments, and Deal or No Deal packages are no longer available on the cruise planner.  Maybe they are revamping their systems to accommodate this change?

Nothing is showing in my cruise planner for April for the last 2 weeks.

Have always been able to use OBC in the casino.  I received promo chips.  Bet $10 and win $10, I received my promo chip back and a $10 regular chip.  Thus I had to lose all my promo chips.

I'm confused.

If you want to play the slots you go to the cage and get a voucher and can later turn that in for cash but if you want chips you only get promotional chips?

We have a LOT of OBC - some refundable and some not - but are not really gamblers. I'm just hoping we can get the refundable out in cash. (First try will be asking for it at Guest Services but the casino was our backup.)

Nope.  No fee at all. They had a $20 minimum, and my son had ~$19 in OBC left.  He went to guest services, gave them the dollar, they added it to his OBC to give him exactly $20 and the casino gave him exactly $20 in a voucher.

Not us. Steerage non-gamblers, and no fee was charged.

Your refundable OBC will automatically go back to the credit card used for payment. OR, you can cash it out at GS on the last day of your cruise.  And yes with chips you do have to play for a while, but can cash out after a few spins.

Hoping to cash it out earlier in the cruise to use for expenses on shore, etc.

Did you get the voucher from the machine or from the cage in the casino?

You will not be allowed to cash out ROBC before the last day. I have asked to do so and was denied.

Is ROBC - refundable onboard credit?
