ropomo Posted February 24, 2023 #26 Share Posted February 24, 2023 I have researched this thouroughly and have concluded that the beep is the motion sensor that activates the hidden camera 😜

Years later we found out that they had been recording people in their rooms enjoying their time together. Many of the recordings were then sold on the open market and made in to porn films. We didn't have to worry, we were so tired that we just went to sleep and moved to another hotel the next day. With that said, on our first cruise on Celebrity ten years later, I saw this strange looking box on top of the TV. So knowing that some places record people, I turned it around. Problem solved. The next day we wanted to check the TV for the current temp and the weather, but we couldn't get the TV to work. I told our room stewart (Tony - That was 23 years ago, so I don't mind saying I am impressing myself) about our issue and later that day he found us in the hallway and said, "Mr. Mike, we not watching you in your room, I turned the remote control sensor around again. It is fine." 🙃

SoBaycruiser Posted February 26, 2023 #35 Share Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) We find most night lights too bright for a bathroom. We found these little LED nightlights that fit nicely into the shaver outlet in the bathroom are just the perfect amount of light. Having not been on Viking yet, I don’t know for sure they have a shaver outlet, but other cruise ships do. Often is says for shavers only but these draw so little power, we are sure they are fine. The biggest problem is to remember to bring them home! Edited February 26, 2023 by SoBaycruiser

Yes, there are shaver outlets in the bathroom.

My impression from the room steward via the maintenance people was it was normal / nothing could be done. My best guess was Viking included it as a warning of the small step UP to get into the bathroom. But the good news for me from this thread: It sounds like I will not have to deal with this loud beep on the Viking Jupiter when I turn on the bathroom light. Yay! formernuke Posted February 27, 2023 #39 Share Posted February 27, 2023 To SoBaycruiser: Yes, there is a shaver outlet in the bathroom. However note that the outlet only takes plugs with two smooth/straight tines (not one with one tine larger as many are). My water pick, for example, could not be accommodated. FYI that is known as a polarized plug. I used our portable water pick in the cabin with the ice bucket under my chin.

Not the exact brand but looks exactly the same as mine that I got two years ago, probably made in the same factory but on a Tuesday rather than a Wednesday. It works great, can be used in the shower which is why I first got it, but I determined that was easier to do at the sink. If you’re like me and fighting gun disease, filling about a quarter of the reservoir with Hydrogen Peroxide and then adding water has made a real difference for me…with the side benefit of whiter teeth! johneb2 Posted March 3, 2023 #47 Share Posted March 3, 2023 I can tell you what we did on our recent Viking Jupiter trip. We used the brown booklet folder from the table with all the brochures and leaned it against the nightlight on the floor, and it reduced the light to an acceptable level. You may want to try it, as we have also done that on previous cruises. JohnEB

The one in the bathroom is under the counter. They are all controlled by a switch next to the bed. Edited March 4, 2023 by OneSixtyToOne

And it likely wouldn’t be too bright except that it’s directly across (at least in the Vs & DVs we book) from the full length mirror so the light gets reflected and seemingly magnified😳 Edited March 4, 2023 by Clay Clayton
