Royal suite on Liberty?

Recommended Posts

On an upcoming 3 night Liberty sailing, we're in a free balcony room for a casino comp. The Royal suite is a actually still available, which got me thinking. If it were you, would you pay the price to upgrade? I've never seen the price within reach before, which is the only reason I'm considering it.. Cost to upgrade for the two of us would be about $2700 total. Would you do it? Only a 3 night sailing but just to experience it? Toss up for me.

i got a steal price on it for a 6 nighter. cant wait to enjoy it. others report great suite deals on the same trip so it must be a less popular itinerary. if you get it come back and write a review!

same cabin is 3x as much out of NYC now.

know there's no genie but wondering if you had a small event in your royal suite can you get snacks and light fare delivered free to the cabin?

Yes! They will deliver you food, apps, champagne for your event.

The problem with the suites on Freedom class is that they are mostly all on deck 10 under the pool deck or public space. I have been in an owners suite on Independence for 8 nights and it was the nosiest cabin I ever stayed in. I had a friend who stayed in the Royal suite on that same sailing and he complained that they could hear every time someone flushed the toilet from the public bathroom that sits above this suite....so just buyer beware. There is a reason that after Freedom class most all of the high end suites were moved to lower decks where they have cabins above and below instead of being under the pool deck.

It would never be worth almost 3K for me to have the royal suite for just 3 days, especially on a ship with limited suite amenities.  We had an opportunity to see the Royal Suite on a recent Marnier cruise and the Royal Suite was very nicely appointed.  Given such a short cruise and time out of the cabin, will you really have time to enjoy it?

With that said, it is your money not mine, so I can't make the decision for you.  3K might not be a drop in the bucket for you.

Whatever you decide, have fun.

I definitely agree with this! I was in Indy royal suite in August and it was really noisy at night when there was some weather.  Didn't spoil anything as I just whacked in some earplugs but was still mildly annoying.  To the OP I'm a sucker for this room so I would pay it - I find it a really special treat and the crew make you feel a million dollars - well the limited times I've stayed in the RS 😊.  We're on Adventure for a week in August and it was a really good price - I think it might be the month, the ship etc.

If you do choose to upgrade - promise you'll do a little review for us!  Either way have a lovely trip.

since you were in this suite, what perks do you remember having with it?

I did a little review on both of my trips so they're probably lurking around somewhere.  the things I remember:

- when you check in we went to the normal desk, they made such a fuss that we were in the royal suite 😆.  escorted us to the suite line to do the check in bits.  Then the concierge chap came to meet us.  it was about 11am and none of the rooms were ready and the floors weren't open but he had a key to take us directly to the room which was very cool! there was no one else on the floor at that point.

- moet Champagne in the room and lots of fresh food ready for us on the dining room table (and other little goodies during the stay)

- you can get pretty much any reservation you want and anything sent to the room.  to be honest we're pretty chill but when you do ask, folks are so helpful

- obviously the concierge lounge is great - but that's a suite thing nota RS specific thing - but I love the CL, we always play cards before dinner, few drinks etc.

- my step daughter mentioned she loved a cookie she had tried from the WJ and concierge had a load delivered to the room the next day

- the light broke in the lounge area and it was sorted in 20 mins

- when we disembarked in Nassau there was a bit of a storm and all the gangways had fallen into the water - it was torrential rain.  we emailed concierge to show him the pics as we were all quite excitable about the drama - so silly - just sharing not asking him to fix anything obviously.  as mentioned, we found it all quite exciting.   When they finally sorted it out we were drenched and concierge met us as we came back on board with warm towels and his magic lift key and took us straight to our room

- found an extra robe for my step daughter

It probably doesn't sound like much but the crew do so much to make sure you have a magical stay . As mentioned I personally think we're quite chill - we had a butler room at sandals and had literally no idea how to use the service so didn't see him all week - just left a tip and note at the end of the week and said hope you had a good week 😆 so maybe others don't see it as worth it which I totally understand but I thought it was brilliant.  Had a really similar experience on Brilliance in May 2022.  I know the Genie experience is a different level so all the above probably looks a bit naff, but the price is also next level!

hope that helps.

it helps a lot. i know what you mean about the butler. in Haven on NCL we just said we like chips and light snacks. didnt ask for anything else all week. im sure he appreciated the break.

it's our 1st time on liberty so 1st time on any ship we just usually try the free food but good to know if we want a specialty we can get in.

is there any way to get a table we want in the MDR. location doesnt matter, just that we arent jammed in 5 inches from other 2 tops as is the norm in every mdr in the world. to us thats gold!

when you say anything you want sent to the room, do you mean we can pay for the steakhouse and have it served at at dining room table? and it's the concierge doing all this since there is no butler?

also so many people have been gracious to us on other cruises id like to have guests over for a small event and would give the concierge at least a day notice of course.

i tried researching as much as i could, especially since we are below chops. and no one complained about noise so i hope i dont have it.

Did you end up taking this cruise?  I would love to hear your opinion on whether the room was noisy being underneath Chops.  We are considering the RS on Liberty this summer.  Thanks!

i never assembled my detailed notes for a full review but i will fill you in on the noise negatives of the cabin

1. you must keep the bidet room door closed at all times or you will hear every flush from the public toilet upstairs. if you are in the bidet room it sounds like you are literally in the bathroom upstairs and there's lots of weird water noises. we kept it closed always and during the night entered from the other door. that being said, there was virtually no  sleep time noise from that above bathroom for obvious reasons. but during the day it did annoy me if the door was open. and YES when you have this cabin you can spend hours in it. it's that glorious plus you did pay for the privilege

2. somewhere between 4am  and 6am  there is daily, but not frequent, noise from chops. my gf never heard it and yes it's above the bedroom directly. id say it's carts rolling or someone dropping a pan. each day in sum total id say that noise was perhaps a a few minutes sporadically. as it's not constant, this would not prevent me from booking this cabin again. but if you are a light sleeper as long as you can get back to sleep you will be fine.

3. your larger 'outdoor porch' and that you are next to the elevator means your porch is a great meeting place for others or a place to wait to meet them. also one can yell down the hall to their cabin mate half way down the ship from this great vantage point. even normal talking is heard thru the double doors as people walk by. as is the case in even single cabin doors. Yes i expected sound proof insulated doors (just kiddin).  the concierge had to disconnect all the suites door bells as kids were ringing them. yes they had facial recognition and the parents got a talking to.  one time i happened to be near the door when it rang and while i wasnt 100% sure it was the kid walking down the hall. i was 98.55 percent sure. so i told him some kids are ringing the bell and if he sees anything please report it to me. also that the captain has facial recognition and will find them soon anyway. the bell is nice though if you are out on the balcony and are expecting something. but alas, the first world problems. also some teen girls were hanging out for a long time outside the door and when i opened it, they just said they were admiring my doors. i had no reason to doubt them. after all, teen girls never lie and the 2 doors are impressive. i should have invited them in to see the piano and hot tub but knew that would be improper and just closed the door. i doubt they were the doorbell ringers though. didnt have 'that look'. 🙂

4. noise in the living room/dining room was pretty much non existent ever as you are far from all the noise maker things.

5. the only reason to NOT book this cabin is the only outlets are on the desk, 10 ft from the bed. and at the ooooother end of the cabin near the dining room table on the floor level. likely for a vacuum. pathetic considering what the cabin normally costs. we always have a charging brick with us but geez um!

6. you can get revenge on noisy people by using the app on your phone to crank up the player piano. joseph will show you which app and how to use it. it's a bit complicated and even the lowest volume is quite loud.  but's it's soooo cool. and everyone around you and in the hall will know it. :)

nothing but a high price would deter me from booking this again. full review on the cabin someday..i plan to....honest.  from FLL paid 1900 pp for 6 nites. same number of nites was well over 8K from NYC. insanity. rather spend 8K on oasis star class.  I used all the savings to fly first class and stay at a very nice resort the day before. lago mar. it's on the area of the beach where cruise ships pass and we got to see viking leave while we at dinner . very cool!  highly recommend the hotel if you can afford 275 a nite. which is not what most posters on forums what to spend. but tripadvisor has so many negative reviews of the closer/cheaper places that i was scared to stay in them.

in summary i thought this was the most elegant cabin ive been in. (vs 2 BR haven on getaway, penthouse on bliss. Crown loft on oasis, 1 br Aqua suite on oasis.) it just exudes class and elegance ( except for the rusty hot tub)

You are so funny!  This was exactly what I was looking for and more.  Thank you so much for your honest review and for the hotel recommendation as well.  You've convinced me--I am going to book!  Thank you!!!

We stayed in 1348 on Indy and had no noise issues. It was a great location and convenient to the Windjammer and pool deck.

I know the suite is magnificent but very little perks compared to oasis class , which gives you genie , free specialty restaurants and much more .

i never got a suite on oasis for the 1900 i paid for the royal suite. so i'm ok with that. when i started cruising the CLS on oasis was only 2300 but then it was near 3K last time. i think now. well. it got bad lol! so i dont look any more. but i did miss CK very much on liberty and the suite lounge felt like a doctors office to me.

Very good point on price , we always book suites (for last decade) , I am not a huge CK fan we eat there for breakfast and most lunches but buy UDP so we eat dinner and some lunch’s in specialty restaurants. Was really disappointed in suite lounge a couple of months ago on harmony, really skimming on drinks . Really looking forward to returning to MSc yacht club next December.
