Rare drron29 Posted April 25, 2023 Author #579 Share Posted April 25, 2023 Back on board and we shared a porcini pizza for lunch. And the final scenes of Giordnia Naxos.
Mr Luxury Posted April 25, 2023 #580 Share Posted April 25, 2023 I can still see that the pizza is burnt despite the basil leaves.😁
jollyjones Posted April 25, 2023 #581 Share Posted April 25, 2023 I’m a bit surprised, that’s not the first burnt pizza you’ve shown. I ate frequently at Spaccanapoli during the 22 days I was on board recently and never had a burnt offering like that. Hope you’re still both enjoying your 54 days!
Rare jpalbny Posted April 25, 2023 #582 Share Posted April 25, 2023 That pizza looks perfectly cooked to me. It's not beef, so let that fire rip, and cook it to well-done! A few charred spots are desirable. Ron, loved your humour about the name of the port and its resemblance to a well-known GI pest. And the Kinder throwing rocks. I would have joined them, being a big kid myself...

Rare drron29 Posted April 26, 2023 Author #585 Share Posted April 26, 2023 (edited) It was off to SALT tonight. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the menu. First the wines and their usual bread offerings. Rojaan started with spring onion wrapped in prosciutto.I had pasta Norma a recipe of this part of Sicily. My pasta was good. Rojaan couldn't cut the spring onion easily. In all restaurants most knives are blunt. Rojaan had the chicken breast stuffed with pistachios and I Kumquat glazed duck. Both good. For dessert Rojaan had watermelon jelly and I chocolate baklava. OK but not outstanding. Sorry I have gone to edit on 3 occasions and deleted this extra picture however when I click save it comes back. I give up. Rare RachelG Posted April 27, 2023 #593 Share Posted April 27, 2023 That pizza looks perfect to me. i am confused about Salt, as I bought it was supposed to be regional food, but the only thing that looks regional to me is the pasta.
Rare RachelG Posted April 27, 2023 #594 Share Posted April 27, 2023 Back in the day, as a med student on peds, I had the cutest little patient, a 3 yr old boy, with a nasty Giardia infection. You brought back memories of him.

Yes it is supposed to be regional but from what I can gather it is dependant on the dictates of head office, which is either in Seattle or Miami depending on which information you believe, It’s not like some lines where the chef goes to the local market and buys local produce and then has free reign. What a shame that corporate don’t have the same faith in their chefs that we do. 2
Rare drron29 Posted April 27, 2023 Author #596 Share Posted April 27, 2023 Now we are in the Grand Harbour Valletta.Looks like a naval ship and The MSC Seaview. which went into dry dock 3 weeks before for an expected 2 week job Not expected out for another 2 weeks. Suspected to be due to engine problems. And off we go on a Gardens of Malta tour. This was not part of the tour but merely from the bus.
Rare drron29 Posted April 27, 2023 Author #597 Share Posted April 27, 2023 So just across the road from the church in the last post is the Palazzo Parisio where the first garden is. They were having a big wedding later that day and obviously we were interfering with their schedule so we toured the building first;

They also owned another palace at the port. It was sold to become acasino.
