Thank you all for the info in the public areas!  I’m wondering if the cabins have been updated eg lamps with USB connections? Are all the tv’s now wall mounted? We’ll be in Caribe No. 230 on the January 9th sailing. Can’t wait 😁

Yes the TV is wall mounted, but unfortunately the lamps don’t have the USB ports. The mattress is very comfortable and great pillows. I haven’t sailed the Ruby before so can’t really say what changes have been made.

That would mean that the shelf where the TV use to sit now has an AC outlet to use for phones & computers. Just bring your chargers.

We were so dissapointed in the condition of the Ruby rust bucket last year when we compared it to the ship it once was.  It was really showing its wear, so I hope they did enough to make people feel like its an up to date ship again.  It was hit and miss though as our friends next door had beautiful new carpet and ours was old, faded and worn.  It may have been a premium balcony due to the size but it was not "premium " due to the old decor.  Its not the all and all to have a new ship every time but you certainly  don't want to be on a ship that is tired and old looking.  At least its not our preference.  It would be interesting to hear fro so previous sailors as to what they think now.

We'll be on it shortly and haven't been on it in 9 years.

It should prove interesting to say the least. 😉

I’m currently on her. We have all new bedding, beds, and carpet. Lots of new paint. The app is down, all of the slots in the casino are offline, and bartenders can’t ring up drinks. Internet is slow. Still having a good time though. The ship looks better than it did compared to my sailing last year.

Thanks for the update. I hope your cruise gets better tomorrow. I am really glad you are still having fun. As long as there is decent food, I don’t care too much about the rest of it. We’re booked on her in March.

The casino slots and the app were only down for one day tables were opened, but you had to bring cash could not charge to the room. Everything‘s up and running normally now. I was on the Ruby five months ago and do notice much of furniture has been replaced or reupholstered. The gym in the front of the ship has also been remodeled and re-carpeted. They seem to be fully staffed as it’s easy to get drinks and food. Although the ship is full, it is not seem crowded until dinner when there is lines for MDR. I have not seen any children mostly 55+ crowd.

Good morning all! Everything does seem to be back online. There was a problem with the bingo tablets yesterday, so they substituted the old paper cards. The ship doesn’t seem crowded to me either.

Our friend, Paul, is the piano man in Crooner’s. We are really enjoying his shows. Another friend, Grace, won $250 playing “Deal or No Deal”. Then she won $200 at bingo. So lucky!

About 5:00 am this morning, water started dripping out of our ceiling. We had to put a trash can under it. It seems to have stopped though. There’s a few water leaks throughout the ship. Hopefully they will be repaired soon.

If anyone is interested, the cutoff for the MTP luncheon was 381 days. With 799 days, I am the most traveled passenger on the ship. My DH and I have been enjoying our breakfast in Sabatini’s, one of the perks for being number one.

Anyway, still having fun and enjoying the ship.

Congratulations on breakfast. That's something I had not heard of before. It's well worth it.

Are you having a luncheon or cocktail party?

I forgot to mention that the cigar lounge was converted on a video game room. There are only 30 minors on the ship and I haven’t seen any of them using the room. I don’t think it’s a very good use of the space.

Hi! I'm curious to see what this looks like! Is it like old school arcade games?

Yes, I believe folks recently onboard Ruby were able to confirm this. It'll probably be done in Portland. Don't have your hopes up for any significant "refurbishment", however.

The Ruby was in Portland for repairs, and then went to Victoria BC for some refurbishing.

The work will start while in transit from San Francisco to Portland.  They will have a crew on board breaking down surfaces/fittings that are to be refinished including the pools while making the transit.

This is true I was on a carnival ship that was heading to dry dock after our cruise and the last sea day they started blocking off parts of the ship and ripping up the teak deck.
