We just disembarked Ruby on Saturday.  The crew confirmed that the ship will be going into dry dock in Portland then in Canada before heading back to San Francisco for the scheduled Panama Canal transit to Florida.

Sounds like she may be getting some hotel side changes if half wet dock/half dry dock.  My guess is they will revamp the buffet similar to Caribbean/Emerald and possibly do some aircon/plumbing work as well.  Not sure if MUTS is due for an upgrade/replacement or not.  I know pre-shutdown there had been ongoing issues with burnt out areas of screen and sound.

Would I be dreaming to hope they get the newer Marketplace Buffet? We’re booked on the Circle Caribbean cruise in March, but we just did 21 days on the Crown, so now I am rethinking the cruise to maybe something newer, even if we have to go back to FLL for a btb.

I was just on the Ruby (7/25-8/5) and they used the aft section of the buffet as Marketplace, at least in the evenings.  So maybe it won't be just a dream!

I hope they add a concierge lounge and 360. I always seem to book a suite on the older ships.

I would not count on 360. The would have to build it into some structure on board   I believe it was built into the design of Sabatini’s when the Discovery and Enchanted were built

They'd have to take a significant chuck of space out of some existing area onboard

My guesses.

Horizon Ct changed to World Fresh Market Place. Change would probably include passenger areas as well as galley areas.

Addition of casual dining locations. The Ruby already has The Salty Dog Gastropub. I would think Vines would require some renovation to turn it into a casual dining location. Maybe Planks and Steamers will be added to the current Cafe Caribe area. Maybe something else.

Lots of passenger area clean up like carpets, mechanicals and such.

All are waiting for announcements from Princess. I'm booked for 2024, waiting too.

I just read that the smoking lounge will be taken out of the casino, and they are putting an arcade in there, which is kind of odd that kids would have to go through the casino to get into the arcade, especially with all the smoke

Where did you read that?  So, does that mean smokers can smoke anywhere now in the casino?

I did see an arcade connected to the casino on one ship, but the entrance was outside of the casino.  Don’t remember the ship, but could have been the Golden (now sold) or the Coral.

Who knows?

The food now served at vines is raw veggies , cheese and cold cuts and truffles now. No real need for a kitchen just prep room

The wife and I just finished a 10-day Alaska and this was indeed the buzz. Spoke with a few of the senior staff and its pretty much a touch-up and routine maintenance on the engines as well as hull repair. They will replace the patch job from the pier strike in SF, paint clean and paint the hull and props, new carpet and furniture, deep cleaning and so on. Sounds like a few of the bars are going to refreshed as well. I asked about the 365 experience and there is some strategic discussion about possibly converting 2 forward suite cabins for this experience, but nothing has been confirmed other than it is being discussed. The Ruby is going to Portland and she is scheduled to be in drydock for 2 to maybe shy of 3 weeks with 24/7 operations during the refurbish. Several of the crew are going to other ships, but there was still a few who are staying on board to clean. Hope this helps!

I don’t believe they will be able to accommodate 360 since it require a galley to prepare all of the courses and it needs all the electronics for the videos etc

DRYDOCK--

On the Ruby now and have been for a few weeks. This is what I know for sure.

From the Captains mouth to my ears----

-2 weeks drydock in Portland--1 week wetdock in Victoria, after their Panama cruise,

home base will be in Florida

CASINO--From Hosts

Talking out the extra gaming tables and adding more slot machines.

All the tables will be in a row down the middle, blackjack most tables,

other games 1 table each

CABINS--From my room steward

Said changing everything in cabins, mention new mattress for every cabin

This is what I know.. What else their doing, I don't know. Didn't ask.

Hope this helps those that want to know about the Ruby.

Wonder if they're going to do anything to the Horizon Court

According to a current Princess dining guide the Ruby has (will have) the World Fresh Marketplace. I would assume this means a physical and selection makeover of some sort. Hopefully the makeover will include replacement of the current coffee with the Lavazza coffee installed on other ships.
