Came off of Equinox (4/15/23) with CoVid

Kudos to Celebrity for how they dealt with us having COVID. Hubby and I tested positive on the 7th day of a 10 day cruise on the Equinox March 26 sailing. No fever, no aches, just coughing and slight headache. Anyway, saw the ship doctor, were given cough medicine and throat lozenges and all was free. Not only that but room service was free as was WiFi and telephone and premium movies. We had a COVID concierge who checked on us daily. We and all the other contagious folks were escorted off for debarkation down on the 2 nd level so as not to mingle with everyone else. At some point we will get credit for our days in isolation. I just couldn't have asked for better service.

Was on the Equinox in Sept. and tested positive on day 5 of a 9 day cruise. Did not wear our masks  but the entire crew did. Was on the Reflection in Dec. of a 7 day and wore masks at all times except when eating. I also wore rubber gloves in the buffet when touching the utensils. Luckily we did not catch anything because after getting sick in Sept. did not want to go through it again. We had all our shots and boosters but still caught it. Have a cruise booked in Nov. on MSC and hopefully will be able to also stay safe.

Less likely that I could have picked it up at FLL but again, I was masked in the airport.

 

Feeling better after a week, just slight cold symptoms now.

Still highly contagious.

I too am fully vaxxed/boosted.

 

Last July was on Caribbean Princess 2 weeks. 

On last full day I was very tired but figured, hey, it's been a fun 2 weeks, so, understandable.

Departure day I had a lot of drainage & clearing my throat a lot, otherwise felt fine.

Wore a mask during travel to be cautious.

Took a test when I got home as my father is elderly with health issues.

Felt FINE (unlike when I got it in January 2022--in bed for 5 days exhausted w/ bad headache)

 

We need to realize catching something on a cruise isn't surprising. 

I now always carry a little "COVID kit"--couple tests, lozenges, cold meds; plus make sure I have plenty of movies & books on my iPad.

Cleaned the garage the next day!

Glad you had mild symptoms!  My wife and I have been cruising every month since October 2022 (on NCL and Celebrity)..she contracted covid on the Edge on the Christmas sailing...it happens.... I sail on the Equinox this month (May 27)..this time alone. 😊  True, you can not know where you picked it up nowadays, but my wife go sick on day 6 of the cruise. I still tested negative (5 shots)...

I came here to ask if there are still covid testing and/or masking requirements for U.S. citizens entering and/or cruising in Europe.  
We'll be on a T/A in October leaving from Barcelona and haven't been on a European cruise since 2019.
Should I check each country's website?  Usually a travel agent would let us know what's needed but we booked directly with the cruise line.
Any helpful information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Of course people still test!  My husband had symptoms this past February, and for 2 days he tested negative.  He decided to take one more test on day 3 (the day before we were due to leave for the cruise) and he was positive.  I called Royal immediately and cancelled our cruise.  Was he sick enough not to be able to cruise?  No, but we weren't comfortable with possibly infecting someone on the ship who wouldn't be able to "fight" the virus as easily as my husband.  BTW, 2 days later I was symptomatic and tested positive.  We would do the same if one of us tested positive for Influenza, RSV, or had norovirus.  It's called caring about your fellow human!

Testing is important.  If you test positive you have the ability to take the Covid meds to reduce the symptoms and treat the infection.  If you test negative, you can breathe a sigh of relief.  Unfortunately, some only test once when the virus may not be shedding enough to give a positive indicator.  Multiple tests should be done throughout the time you are feeling ill.

 

Glad it was mild for you.  For many others, it has and may not be so.

Im sure people do and I did off a recent cruise (twice).  Both were negative and was likely bad seasonal allergies in the Midwest

Those same people have been cruising successfully for years.....decades even! It never stopped them before. What you are suggesting is that no child should ever cruise again? That older folk quit cruising....smokers? I don't think many will agree with you on that. Plus, I would think that common sense would dictate to someone with a significantly compromised immune system wouldn't book in the first place.

I kind of agree with you that if someone is that high a risk, cruising has a higher likelihood of infection.  Basically if you fall into those categories and are high risk, its all on you if you get infected

I agree!  The key words in my comment were “many people”. TBH whether or not people cruise and the reasons behind their decision is really none of my business so I will respectfully bow out of this conversation.

Just got another Booster .  We will be sailing again in August.

 

I also was on the Apex- in March  came home feeling okay- but decided to take a covid test- It was positive!  Fortunately, I attriute it to the fact that I had the recommended Covid shots and Boosters, I was absolutely fine.  Could have happened at airport or from crowded elevators- the ship was full and lots of kids.  My DH and I are "young" seniors and healthy.

I am curious about posters commenting as to testing when they are on board... How do you do that?

Do you take testing kits with you?  If not, does the ship charge you for it? This is why I am asking:

 

A decade ago on Celebrity, a few days before the end of the cruise, I went down to the med center to simply get some cough medicine as I had picked up a bit of a cold and wanted some relief prior to getting on a plane with slightly plugged ears.  The doctor insisted that I get tested, with what turned out to be that uncomfortable nasal swab.  I also got a $70 US  charge on the bill at the  end of the cruise that I did not expect. Simply because I tried not to have ear problems on a flight. Sheesh.😠

(It turns out that I was then more knowledgeable and  prepared for Covid testing! 😁)
