New York State residents cannot get Carnival's insurance . . .

I wonder why.  I booked online a few days ago and cannot get Carnival's insurance.  So what is the recommended avenue to insure my trip?  Thank you in advance!

New York has issues with Cancel For Any Reason "Insurance" in general, which Carnival provides with their package.

Yes, the Commissioner of Insurance in NY state does not consider cancelling for any reason as something insurable. OTOH, if you or the cruise line cancels NY state requires insurer to refund your insurance premium.

But CALL them; do not rely upon the short online summaries, as those simply can't explain all the details or try to match with what *your* issues are.

 

The CFAR is a problem in some states, but they can help you with whatever is "next best" if that works.

We've used TIS to purchase quite a few policies, and we've also had some claims - all of which were paid promptly.  They are a broker (no extra cost to traveler) and work with several vetted travel insurers.
