discru Posted May 9, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2023 (edited) First time on MSC and the only port is Ocean Cay. Will be on the Seaside. Looks like we are docked there for a day and a half. Are the bars on the ship open while docked at Ocean Cay? Is the casino open while docked at Ocean Cay? I was on in March and I know in the evening it was open. I want to say the slots we open the whole time but I had the premium booze package. Just hope you can dock. If winds are high, they can't.

rebeccac Posted May 9, 2023 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2023 What about everything on the island? Do things stay open or does everything pretty much close up at night and then re-open the next morning?

Things start to close down before the lighthouse show in certain areas but there is/has been a bonfire on the beach nearest the lighthouse so that area is open...all aboard is 11 PM and then you can get back out in the morning like 7 or 8 AM (assuming you're on an overnight). We’ve been to Ocean Cay many times but have never seen the fireworks show. The Lighthouse show is pretty nice though.

Any services available on the island are geared toward supporting the passengers' needs while ashore. No need to stay open when food, bars and rest rooms are available on the ship. And no, you do not want to take a night time dip or wade in the water at night. MSC has employees watching for sharks during the day. You can't see them at night. Usually it's $10 minimums but they occasionally have a happy hour with $5 minimums. If the tables are busy all the time, then they won't have it.

Lived in Europe for 8 years so it was a super nice way to reminisce about those years and the food/service aspect. Hate being rushed to get in/eat/get out. I just think there's more diplomatic ways to do it. If you've never been to Ocean Cay and seen the light show, you wouldn't have detected the sarcasm. As they have been many times, (by their own account), they were pointing out that I misspoke and mentioned fireworks instead of a light show. Anyone who has ever been to OC knows that there are no fireworks...I knew what I meant but the martini (or 2) clouded my vocab. LOL. No harm either way. I am sorry, I did not see your question in time to check. I looked closely at the three card poker table on embarkation afternoon; the rules were posted, but not the minimum. Thanks for chiming in...glad to know it because like your opinion, I have valued @gmbhardy's as well. Perhaps I was feeling a bit sensitive or maybe things just got lost in translation...which is certainly easy to do from behind a keyboard. I always try to put myself in the shoes of the other person when making a comment because I don't want to come off as rude or combative. I'm sure no harm was intended and as I've said before, it's important that accurate information is out there so I appreciate the correction.
