We’ve read about mugging, murders, poisonings….. maybe not right at the ports but close by….. scared! Don't ever come to Florida. Everything you stated is on the news nearly every single night. There is crime everywhere….we live in dfw where the recent mass shooting was…..but being in a strange place….just seems scarier somehow.

You may be safer on the islands of your cruise then you are near your home.

At least other states have better restrictions for firearms which does help.

I would never be the least bit concerned about any of the things you worry about. If you stay onboard everywhere you'll be missing the time of your lives. Please go and expect a carefree vaca, you won't regret it. And RCCL makes your safety a priority not to put you in harms way, at least on the ship. They avoid storms with great aplomb. OR...if you're more comfortable, take a camping trip with all those family members in your backyard. I'm sure you'll all be safe there!

You never see any homeless do you? Unlike in the US where we coddle them. In Cozumel they arrest them for Vagrancy
Newcruiser2012 Posted May 11, 2023 #35 Share Posted May 11, 2023 Our very first cruise in August 2012 left Ft. Lauderdale just as Hurricane Isaac was rolling in. 60 mph wind gusts on deck. Our itinerary was reversed and the seas were a little rough the first couple of days but we had a GREAT time! Still cruising 11 years later 😁

Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted May 12, 2023 #37 Share Posted May 12, 2023 FWIW I read that we are entering into an El Niño weather cycle for the next couple of years which generally means fewer hurricanes in the gulf and Atlantic. Flip side is more severe storms in the pacific. IDK… just what I read.
