Kimo's is my favorite restaurant in Maui and we go there often. It is a sister restaurant to Duke's and part of the TS Restaurant Group.

About once a year we go to Mama's Fish House to spend stupid amounts of money, and while the atmosphere is sublime, I don't think the food is any better than Kimo's.

Have you tried Kimo's Hula Pie?

We always go to Kimo’s as well .. it my absolute favorite restaurant.

At some point on your way back to LA, you may encounter a weakening Hurricane Calvin.  Fortunately, you will be south of him on your way to Ensenada.  The seas may be a little rougher than normal.

We have been monitoring the hurricane.  Today it is supposed to go from a Cat 2 to a Cat 3 hurricane.

Captain has yet to comment on the storm.  I think he will today as we leave Kauai.  I agree with you that we will definitely feel the rough seas associated with the storm.

Buckle-up Buttercup!  🌊

We did not have a ship excursion.  We waited in line to get shuttle group 3.  We were prepared to get a later shuttle, but got lucky.

What time did you get stand in line for a ticket, and what time did you get off the boat?  I am trying to see if an 11:30 snorkel tour is doable (45 minutes away).  Thanks!

Super fun day at the beach today in Nawiliwili Bay.  We walked from the ship, an easy 15 minute stroll, to the beach in front of the Marriott's Royal Sonesta Hotel.

The weather was perfect with a slight breeze.

In front of Duke's, we rented 4 beach chairs and 2 umbrellas ($50 for 2 chairs and an umbrella).

Just now leaving Nawiliwili.  Captain made an announcement that we were a bit late leaving because they were waiting for four passengers that decided to disembark today without informing Princess.  No bueno!!!

He also said that we should be swinging fairly South of Calvin, but will be having larger swells on our 2nd sea day.

Wow...Disembarked without telling Princess?  I wonder if they did that to avoid the PVSA?  DIdn't security notice that were talking off their luggage?  Hmmm...very suspicious.

You captured a perfect ānuenue.  Colors were brilliant.

Have a safe journey home.  From your reports, you really do know how to enjoy the beauty of the islands.

They must of had minimal luggage???  I guess they could have hidden stuff in large beach  bags.  Princess should have their credit card and passport info so they will be hit with PVSA fines?  🤔

I’m not surprised. Your cruise is now 9-10 days in.  Passengers boarded with active Covid.  5 sea days.  Hawaii has a very low Covid rate compared to the mainland.  Too close for my comfort level.

@LACruiser88...thank you so much for this fantastic live review!

We are taking our FIRST cruise to Hawaii in Jan-Feb 2024 on HAL.

Your beach day today is exactly what I have on our schedule as well so thank you so much for the lovely photos!

Having cruised the Caribbean more times than I can count we are venturing out now that we are retired and wintering in Yuma AZ cruising from San Diego.

Sorry to hear about the illnesses on board, hope it misses your cabin for sure.

We have another quarantine cabin, this one is 3 doors down from our cabin.  They have their breakfast order on their door.  🥺

It doesn't mean they have covid. Could be several reasons. Think about it. They may just not want to bend over that far with their empty trays. 😃 😄

They would have to move the stool each time entering/exiting the cabin.

Easy enough. I was just kidding but the first time I encountered this in the hallway a year ago my first thought was a mobility issue like bending over.

First time I've taken a picture of a constellation from the ship. The top right star I think is actually a satellite 🛰

Nice! Was this on your own? I took a Mexican Riviera cruise where the offered a midnight class topside, it was kinda fun

Could also be International Space Station.  I was in the right spot at the right time (Death Valley) when the Shuttle/orbiter separated from the ISS.  Amazing.

Yes. Last night around 9pm off the balcony. I've always wanted to go to a stargazing event but they are past my bedtime. 😊

I had an app for that when I lived in Tahoe.  It notified you when it was coming. I should download it again.
