Bringing spirits onboard

We will be cruising with some friends from across the country. They are whiskey aficionados. Is there any way to legitimately bring onboard sealed spirits as a gift for their post-cruise enjoyment?

Curious thought. If you did bring on a fancy bottle of whisky in either carry on or checked luggage purposely (like the OP wants as a post cruise gift). If they did catch it, would they just hold it for you until the last night of the cruise like in-port purchases or tell you it was going to be tossed?

That depends but they originally said booze would be tossed.  They do return other contraband like extension cords and surge protected cords

Empty a bottle of red wine and wash it.  Fill it with bourbon an reseal it.  They sell stuff on Amazon for homeaid wine sealing for like 5 bucks.  They will never know

Y'all missed the word "legitimately" in the question. 😉

Yet apparently on Euro cruises, they have liquor stores in the terminal and you can walk right on with it. Not fair!!🤣

If they had a choice, you wouldn't be able to bring it on in Europe either.  Most countries in Europe have laws banning Cruise lines from preventing guests from bringing alcohol on board that was sold in their country to help promote their local economy.

That makes sense...a Liquor store in Port Canaveral would make a MINT

But, we don't have laws preventing cruise lines from restricting what you can bring on.  The cruise lines profit is more important than business' in our country.

@Veinless if it's available at one of the ports, you can legitimately buy there, the ship will hold until last night then deliver to your cabin at which time you can give to your friend. The delivery is made well before luggage gets set out, so you'll have time to get it to them.

Lucky friends 🤭

Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
