Veinless Posted July 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2023 We will be cruising with some friends from across the country. They are whiskey aficionados. Is there any way to legitimately bring onboard sealed spirits as a gift for their post-cruise enjoyment?
Sgwscruiser Posted July 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2023 unfortunately no but you can always give it a shot, but if you get caught you may get that bottle confiscated, with no ability to get it back before your cruise is over

kdr69 Posted July 2, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2023 If its for after the cruise then buy them a bottle of whiskey from the Liquor Store onboard. Usually some good choice for afficionados....
FastShip24 Posted July 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2023 You guy buy plastic bottles, like for shampoos. Fil it up with booze.
Scottycruisin Posted July 2, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Empty a bottle of red wine and wash it. Fill it with bourbon an reseal it. They sell stuff on Amazon for homeaid wine sealing for like 5 bucks. They will never know
SDPadreFan Posted July 2, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2023 You could buy it in the ships store as previously mentioned or you could even buy it at a port stop. The ship will hold either for you securely and then deliver it to your cabin on the last night.
SDPadreFan Posted July 2, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) Curious thought. If you did bring on a fancy bottle of whisky in either carry on or checked luggage purposely (like the OP wants as a post cruise gift). If they did catch it, would they just hold it for you until the last night of the cruise like in-port purchases or tell you it was going to be tossed? That depends but they originally said booze would be tossed. They do return other contraband like extension cords and surge protected cords
Rare 1025cruise Posted July 2, 2023 #10 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Technically, booze is dumped.
Veinless Posted July 2, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted July 2, 2023 Boo. There's a local distillery whose product I wanted to bring, but sounds like it won't be doable. Too bad! Thanks all for the insight.
havanadaydreaming Posted July 2, 2023 #12 Share Posted July 2, 2023 What ship? We were on Panorama, Vista class, and Guys Pig would sell full bottle of Col EH Taylor for around $125. They also had Blantons. I havent seen that bottle in years. That would be a kick arse gift.

Joebucks Posted July 3, 2023 #16 Share Posted July 3, 2023 Since you said post-cruise, that is possible. Buy one in the fun shop or at port, it all gets delivered the last night.

hard_eight Posted July 3, 2023 #19 Share Posted July 3, 2023 Yet apparently on Euro cruises, they have liquor stores in the terminal and you can walk right on with it. Not fair!!🤣

Not fair!!🤣 If they had a choice, you wouldn't be able to bring it on in Europe either. Most countries in Europe have laws banning Cruise lines from preventing guests from bringing alcohol on board that was sold in their country to help promote their local economy.

The cruise lines profit is more important than business' in our country.
Rare Haljo1935 Posted July 3, 2023 #23 Share Posted July 3, 2023 @Veinless if it's available at one of the ports, you can legitimately buy there, the ship will hold until last night then deliver to your cabin at which time you can give to your friend. The delivery is made well before luggage gets set out, so you'll have time to get it to them. Lucky friends 🤭 Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
