Australia...ya know...sounds wonderful except it seems all of the wildlife wants you dead. 😆

Now - a Garden Villa is something to dream about as well!

There's not much room for wildlife to roam the streets of Melbourne.  It's a huge city with a population larger than Los Angeles.  Even so, it's a very walkable city with an outstanding public transit system - a perfect combination for taking in the sights.

Ship:  Since no one said the ship had to be currently sailing, I'll have to go with the SS Norway. elegant, beautiful, classy.

Port - Tie between Skagway and St. Maarten

Room: Club Internationale on the Norway or VIBE on the Getaway

Good to know...though, seeing photos of huntsman spiders in Aussie bathrooms seems like it's an everyday occurrence.

Was curious as so many CCers have this ship listed on their signatures so I used the Google. What a lovely ship! The style is beautiful and has a great "old Hollywood" look to it (if that makes sense).

It was originally the SS France and did transatlantic voyages. Never the "ideal" ship for the Caribbean but will always hold a special place in my heart. That was "back in the day" when everyone dressed nice for dinner every night. Not everyone's jam for sure but definitely gave it a special aura and much more glam.

I concur Skagway is awesome! Don't miss the food at the Skagway Brewing company near 4th and Broadway, fantastic.

I ate there on a 80 degree day!  Everyone was so hot from the unusual warm weather but at least there was cold beer.

Service and food selection was better then, also!   However, we didn't have the nicest "tablemates."  Some meals became awkward.

Agreed, you were taking your chances but we also met some of the most wonderful people. One year we were seated with a mom and three daughters, one of which was Bonnie Blair, Gold medalist in speed skating, relaxing after her most recent wins. Wonderful family.

This is difficult, but currently I'm going with:

Venice

Jewel

Anything handicap accessible

Inside, outside, balcony doesn't matter much to us, so long as DW can get her scooter in 🙂

Fantastic attitude. The Youtubers "Cruising With Wheels" highlight the difficulties in cruising with a wheelchair especially with rooms listed as "accessible" that barely meet accessibility standards, and even then, have so many obstacles that it can terribly affect the cruise. It's interesting that they and other differently abled cruisers often find much better layouts in interior rooms than supposedly larger balcony rooms.

Personally, cannot wait to see Venice and thank you for your rec!

Warmest, Amy

Heh.  For some reason, a lot of folks presume that Australia is nothing but the Outback.  (And as far as the Outback goes, there I'm with you---I don't go to places with things that will eat me.)  But, as the Traveling Man indicated about Melbourne, most of Australia is urban and quite civilised.

I spent three years assigned to the staff of Commander, SEVENTH Fleet in the South Pacific, and thanks to our "show the flag" deployments on the flag ship, I got to visit Australia a dozen times---Perth, Darwin, Melbourne, Brisbane, and, of course, Sidney.  I won't bore you with my personal experiences, but it's a great country with wonderful people.

Someday, when my Powerball numbers hit, the Good Mrs. Benson and I will cruise back to Sidney in style.  In the meantime, Sydney will go down as my favourite port, even though it was courtesy of the U. S. Navy, rather than NCL.

To address the other two requested favourites:

Ship:  Norwegian Joy

Stateroom:  # 14778, Haven Penthouse Suite on board Joy

I know . . . that's no surprise.

@CDR Benson Thank you for your Service to our country. As a daughter, grand-daughter and great-grand-daughter of vets, we truly are a grateful nation.

And looking at a map of Australia, the population density maps explain your experiences well. It's like saying "New York" and everyone thinks Times Square and forget about the Hudson Valley.

Would love to try the Joy after reading on the Haven Boards about yours and other's positive experience. I've got my MegaMillions and Powerball tickets primed and ready - who knows...that Aussie Haven trip may be just 5 numbers away!

Warmest, Amy

Port: Venice (when you were actually in Venice)

Ship: Gem or any Jewel class ship

Cabin: In my dreams the Garden Villa, but any suite will do depending on price

So excited about Venice - we go next year.

I'll bet pictures do not tell half the story of that city's beauty.

It really is beautiful.  If you have some extra time there, just wander around.  There are surprises around every corner and alleyway.  But with so many historic sites to see, it's hard to take it all in unless you're there for several days.  Wishing you a fabulous time!

@goldmom after we disembark, we are spending a day and night there. Believe it or not, it's literally 1/2 price to fly to London, enjoy a day there, then back to Orlando then to fly from Venice to Orlando (with 2 stops!).

But, after we win Powerball this week, we may be able to fly first class!!! 🤑

Lol, I live in Melbourne Australia and have yet to encounter anything that wants to kill me.  Not in the cities anyhow.  Don't believe everything you see on the Animal Planet ☺️

My top pick port is Venice or Santorini

Top pick ship is any Celebrity ship, but hoping to love the Prima when we sail next month

More than happy with a regular balcony, and get excited when we can afford one rather than an oceanview.  I don't see the point of paying the big bucks for a suite, but each to his own.

I rarely carry cash...in a joyful (perhaps lucky) turn of events, a neighbor paid me back for some groceries I bought her. This means I'll be getting some of those tickets myself....not sure Australia's top of my Haven list, but a Haven cruise is certainly at the top! To somewhere. Ahhh, to dream.
