gatorphin Posted August 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2023 Long time Carnival customer. Sailed on Sunrise departing July 29th. Interior cabin on deck 8. No A/C from the start of the cruise. Steward gave us a fan right away. Were never able to fix it. Staff came by on Tuesday to take temp. Only to say it was high. After waiting in line for 45 minutes at guest services they said they didn't know anything about it & would take the temperature again & get back to me. They never did either. Now I find out the A/C has been out since before our cruise and they aren't telling people. Can't reach a rep by phone only email. Think I'm done with Carnival & I've been with them since the 90's.

I read a post not sure if it was you ac was out last week and cruisers were offered 50% fcc. I'd push and ask for something. Need ac in the summer.

hard_eight Posted August 4, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2023 I'd fly home, don't they have some guarantee?
janice2348 Posted August 4, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2023 In this case I would speak to a manager. Go up the chain. If they can’t fix it I would definitely push for compensation.

pe4all Posted August 5, 2023 #10 Share Posted August 5, 2023 We had a problem on Spirit when we sailed on her. Walked into the cabin and it was very warm. Curtains were closed, so it was not a sun problem. Went right to GS, who immediately sent an engineer down to cabin. He walked in and said it was very warm (duh). He measured temp at 78 degrees and said that was unacceptable. He left, and when we came back to the cabin 1 hour later he was just leaving and boy, did he fix it! It was cold - which I loved, but dd hated - lol! (got her an extra blanket and all was good) 2
ray98 Posted August 5, 2023 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2023 That has to be miserable. We had a trip around 10 years ago on the Fantasy which is why I always travel with a fan to this day. We had an inside with an A/C problem they were unable to fix and it was widespread enough they were out of fans. They sent maintenance several times and could not get the cabin below 82f. That temp was very uncomfortable with no moving air.
Stick93 Posted August 6, 2023 #12 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Sunrise was my least favorite ship. It was hot all over the ship when I was on it just after it got sunshined. The older ships are getting a bit too worn on Carnival - they need better upkeep.

Beth Hazard Posted October 25, 2023 #14 Share Posted October 25, 2023 My daughter and I sailed the Sunrise in early October. We have both cruised a lot so have reasonable expectations. The reviews were mixed so we chanced it...never again. When they repaired the ship last year they added more cabins to an already small ship. It's too crowded and not staffed with enough crew. We had to wait 30 minutes for our order to be taken in the main dining room at 5:45, then when we finally received our food it was very cold. On multiple days there were gangs of kids sitting in the stairways blocking them from use. Multiple fights broke out at the pool. We had a balcony room that must have been downsized as part of the renovation. The door wouldn't shut properly and whistled all night. The uncomfortable twin beds didn't feel as big as a regular twin, when you rolled over you almost fell out. I could go on and on about the disappointments. Our AC was very weak but we requested a fan, that helped. The fact they would run a ship that way turned me off to Carnival all together!

Not so on the Liberty about ten years ago; our oceanview wasn't being "conditioned" (i.e., it was moist air, not dry). Only after invoking the Carnival Vacation Guarantee (r.i.p.) did we get moved to a balcony that had opened up due to folks who'd missed the sailing. On our just-completed Horizon cruise, we thought the room started out fine but began getting moist and stuffy. A guest services officer came up with a digital thermometer, shrogged and said, "well, it's showing 71 degrees" and we thought that'd be the end of it..but we noticed that the problem went away and the room seemed "fresher" afterward. Maybe Engineering reset a damper elsewhere or something.
