It was the incompetence of their parents.  I would press charges to the fullest extent so those little brats learned a lesson.  If their family gets banned from Carnival for life so be it. 

 

Saw on YouTube a woman stole a puppy from one of the Ididarod training facilities in Alaska.  She was able to keep it quiet on the bus but obviously got stopped going back through security getting onto the ship.  Bottom line, $10,000 fine, lifetime ban on all cruise lines as well as lifetime ban on visiting Alaska ever again.

I kind of wish you had taken a photo of the kids. Assaultive behavior needs to be reported and punished. Pressing charges would force the parents and Carnival to be accountable. Getting off free just emboldens. Although, sadly, being seen by the culprits taking a photo maybe could have put you more at risk.

This was the first cruise from Barcelona to NY a few months ago. There were no fights, but there were some punks who flat out lied to security, and a parent or two who likewise lied. And some who claimed they could get away with anything by yelling racist.

Cruise ships I've been on in the last 3-5 years are closing up earlier each cruise I go on. I would stumble home at 3-4 in the morning in the old days after a packed nightclub. These days the ships don't have a dedicated nightclub and  it seems the ship closes down about midnight. I blame the Family Cruise initiative. I wish they'd go to Disney World like in the good old days. We don't need Six Flags on the Lido Deck either

That kind of thing is why we are shifting to NCL, though we will still take Carnival Journey cruises as we have always had civilized fellow passengers on those. All our cruises after a December Journey cruise are NCL.

Different ships may be different, but when my wife was assaulted on the Glory security basically said the only cameras are in the casino.

Aloha.  Once again thank you for your reports, pictures and fun! On a far more serious level, unfortunately the world is slowly drifting into some level of anarchy.  Having been blessed to cruise for decades and traveling by air/sea/lad I see this everywhere.  My wife will not sail Carnival anymore and occasionally I would take short cruises with them with just my brother in law. No longer. As for leaving from NYC, only the QM2. As I get older I am trying to minimize my exposure to nonsense but that is becoming more and more difficult. Especially if you spend time between NY and Hawaii you run into knuckleheads everywhere. Even in the finest restaurants and onboard the finest ships. I am cynical I hate to say but I feel been there done that. Enough of my soapbox. I love your reports and look forward to future posts and of course the food pictures!

Honestly, this is the first cruise I couldn’t wait to get off of. DH just said “I forgot how ridiculous it is to get off the ship on Carnival”. It’s literally walking and following directions.
