Confused and tired.....(rant)

Today the app finally worked - sort of, and I am now even more confused. I open the app, Dining still says "Sorry - Dine My Way is not available right now" Bypass that for the moment. Tried it on 2 Samsung phones, an android tablet, and an ipad.

I go to Payment Methods and Packages. Select Packages.  It says "You currently do not have any packages ...... Visit Cruise Personalizer".  I select that, go to Cruise Personalizer, under Princess Plus says PURCHASED (the one with 2 casual dining, OceanNow etc.). Seems my TA was right all along that they got me the new Plus. The Travel Summary says I have the package items but does not mention the Casual Dining and so on.. Should it? Who knows!!!! 

So to summarize: app works whenever it feels like it. Dining option does not work. I do not have any packages yet I do have a package. What is included in the package? I guess I will find out once onboard.

8 cruises so far (quite low judging by fellow CC poster signatures), 2nd with Princess and the first one that I have to deal with logistics at such length. Rant over. Thank you all for bearing with me....

I have little patience with wonky technology and for that reason I avoid using the app and once onboard I use the medallion like the old cruise card - open my door and pay for a drink. It's much more relaxing.

 

I just take my paperwork and show up at the pier.

The app worked fine for me for two cruises.  The first real glitch that I've experienced started when my loyalty level switched from Ruby to Platinum.  The website shows me as Platinum, but the app still shows me as Ruby, which is strange, because it will let me make dining reservations for a cruise that is next year. 

 

When is your cruise?  Are you past final payment?  I've copied the dining reservation conditions from Princess.com and pasted them below.

Thanks for taking the time to try to help me. We are not past full payment and my objective re Dining was to try to see our options as we like trying Specialty Dining, and any other dining events available to book ahead. Dining was not my main concern though.

The inconsistent information re Plus package in the app, cruise personalizer and the website and what is included and not is very frustrating. App availability is another aggravating factor.

Here I go ranting again. Sorry. As another poster said (post 3) maybe it would be a good idea to try letting go. However, cruising for us is a huge investment (airfare costs almost as much as the cruise) and is kinda difficult to let go. Happy cruising ev1.

To hopefully give some comfort... We had the "no packages" message in the app right up to boarding Island Princess earlier this month, despite cruise personalizer confirming that we did have the Plus package. No issues onboard at all, so I assume it's just an app problem.  Agree that taking the paperwork just in case is a good idea.

As above, you should be able to make dining reservations after making final payment, using the app or alternatively there is a link on cruise personaliser to a web-based solution.

I don't know if you are aware of this...but you can access the dining section via the "web version" which can be done from any desktop/laptop/tablet in the Cruise Personalizer.  It may not make any difference for whatever your particular issue is, but this is the way that I *always* book dining.  It's so much easier to "see" what you're doing and also multiple days.

You may be looking in the wrong place.  In the cruise personalizer look under on board services tab and scroll to the bottom.  It should list the items in the package. I don’t currently have a cruise booked now so I can’t provide a picture.

 

Also for dine my way, often folks try to choose “dining options” which only works onboard instead of choosing “view and reserve”. Again I do not have a booking so the titles may not be exact.

 

This may not be your issue but worth a try.

My situation is I can see the new perks related to the Plus-60 Package on the app, but they do not show up on the Cruise Personalizer Travel Summary or Onboard Services.

 

Also, I was unable to book any Specially Restaurant's through the app but, doing it as outlined above in the Cruise Personalizer worked.

Thank you. I was not aware of the "desktop" version. I will try that and hopefully I will get an idea of what is available.

Thank you. My issue is that the app says No package. In the app cruise personalizer it says I have the Plus with the new items as well. This happened me a few cruises ago and 14 days before sailing the package showed up in the app. I always take a screenshot of the travel summary just to be sure since that also show my casino OBC and freeplay

You can be a luddite and never use the medallion for anything but opening your room.  You can even request one of the old fashioned key cards for that if you ask.  The can give you the medallion but they can't force you to use it.

If you select Medallion Net in the app does it show 1 device?

Then you have Princess Plus. 

 

My Summary does not list the casual dining, or any of the other additions.  Those are listed in my App under Packages.  Which like many others is wrong because it says I have the Premier package for my cruise next week, which I don't.  Yet.  But I do have the Premier for one of my cruises.

The Medallion Net is correct for my cruise on Tuesday it shows I have 1 device.  For my next cruise which I upgraded it says I have 4 which is also correct.

And I guess you've deleted cookies, uninstalled and reinstalled, turned it off for a few hours made sure all updates are current?  You have your screen shot of the plan you purchased or were gifted?  Then you should be good to go.

Its just wonky and frustrating, but honestly I love it once onboard.

It sure is.  I am in Canada and today I have a checkmark that shows I've chosen to have my medallion shipped to the port, that was gone for weeks now its back.

I know I don't need it or the bar code but it is updating on its own timeline as usual 😀

Same for me.  For our 3 booked (1 that leaves in 3 1/2 weeks)the app says Premier and I know I only paid for Plus.  Asked my TA what is going on thinking she upgraded us but no; she doesn't know why either.

Would be nice if they honored it.

You should.  Sr Mgmt on ships needs to be embarrassed so they will rag on HQ to get their &*(#$!!@#$ act together.

You should be one of the many here who must know the Medallion has NOTHING to do with the App.

I'll find out on Tuesday but I expect when I board mine will revert back to Plus.  Otherwise the lines at Guest Service will be a mile long with passengers insisting they have Premier when they really don't.

Just curious how it turned out.  Did the Medallion continue showing you had the Premier package once you boarded the ship or did it revert back to Plus?
