Hotel near NCL dock in N.O.

I was wondering if there are any hotels within walking distance of the NCL dock in New Orleans

There are a number of hotels within walking distance.  However with a few, you will have to cross a very busy main street (filled with traffic) plus several sets of railroad tracks (which have traffic of their own--both freight and AMTRAK).

There are plenty, both in the French quarter and CBD.  If you go over to the Gulf Coast departures section on CC, you will find plenty of posts.  I personally stay at Harrah's, but I can usually get comped rooms

I was just there in April - not for a cruise, but a land journey.

We stayed on the other side of the French Quarter - a bit far from the dock.

 

By all means check the CC board.

Also, pull up a Google map and you can spot the hotels; or a travel site and check their map of the area. You will see exactly where the properties are located relative to the ship dock.

We always walk to port in New Orleans from our stay at Harrah's hotel (and we have been retired for a few years). There are several hotels close to port.  Have had no problems with traffic as there is a crosswalk to the 'whale' lot at the mall.  There are rail tracks right in front of the port but there is always a police officer at that crossing.  The porters are available to take your luggage just before you cross the tracks at the port. 

 

The only traffic we have seen on the rails is the trolley.  If it comes by, it's just a few seconds of delay to cross the tracks.   We have been walking back & forth from our hotel before and after cruise for several years.  Worse walk we had was in the pouring rain.   When we had the mandated NCL provided covid test, we were sent back across those same tracks by the whale lot to the Marriott for testing.  (Perhaps that Marriott is the closest?)

 

If you go by car/taxi/uber you will be in traffic lining up around the convention center to drop off at the port.    It looked really bogged down when we cruised in January.  Not hard to walk across at crosswalk when all the traffic is stopped😉

the hilton, loews and harrah's hotels (soon to be renamed caesars) are all within easy walking distance. and the marriott is essentially across the street and adjacent to the pier.

 

you can walk indoors through the mall from the hilton to an elevator that will take you right down to the pier. harrah's (caesars) is a block or so away from the hilton and loews is a block and a half or so from there in the other direction, closer to the pier.  you can see the pier from some rooms in harrah's and loews. i assume the same of the marriott, but i've never stayed there.

 

"walking distance" is an undefined term and its meaning can vary from person to person. for reference, all these hotels are about a third of a mile from the pier. that distance can be walked in seven to ten minutes depending on how much luggage you have and whether you have any mobility issues.

We stayed at the Hilton & took the NCL shuttle. Walking thru the shopping plaza would have been easier & faster! We asked politely & got a room on the 21st floor overlooking the cruise port. 
Fabulous hotel with great staff and an awesome bar!

The NCL terminal in New Orleans is at the South end of a shopping mall (Riverwalk?) with the Hilton Riverside near the North end.   

 

We didn't stay there, but spent a bit of time in the mall waiting for our boarding time.  We saw probably 50 or more groups of people with luggage that walked from the Hilton through the mall to the terminal.
