priority tendering

Recommended Posts

as part of the Royal Up program, we are in a Sky Class suite.  One of the perks is priority tendering.  Today we are at a port with tendering, and we were signed up for an excursion.  Our concierge told us that since we were with an excursion, there was no need for the concierge escort nor the ticket for the tender.  Our question is for the return to the ship.  There was quite a long line and the person at the dock told us to just get in line when we asked about priority tendering.  Are you entitled to priority tendering for the return to the ship, or just for leaving the ship.  Could make a big difference as the line was quite long.  Thanks in advance.  If we are entitled to priority tendering, how do we get that point across if the dock attendant says no.

Priority tendering is only for getting off the ship.. On return you line up with everyone else

In caymans which is a tender I had a booked excursion where we were told to meet at a green tent, not onboard. I was told to walk from one end to the other 3 times across the ship. If you book a excursion with rcl I'd have thought you should be allowed off the ship before those without rcl excursion tickets. I would not book another excursion where I had to be onshore at a certain time.

And getting off allure muddled. Told to meet in the theater deck 5, waited for elevator, not carrying a suitcase down stairs. They said oh no we are using this for yellow and red bus tickets. Go to deck 4 theather. Waited again, good thing I asked, oh walk offs meet deck 5 at the Starbucks and by then the line wrapped around the deck, but it started to move soon after.

Could use work. Carnival spoiled me with priority tendering and debark by loyalty level. Not just a mass rush for the door, its more organized, though on my upcoming journey cruise priority is not a perk saying mostly high level cruisers book these journey cruises. .. but regular cruises it is nice and much better organized. Organization of tenders and debark, and getting off with a excursion much more organized on carnival. Apparently royal doesnt believe in being organized and knowing where to direct people to wait.

Years ago (Many years ago) some concierges would be on the pier area and look in the return line for their concierge/suite guests to pull them out of line for earlier return to the ship. I specifically recall this practice in the Cayman Islands.

Yet, another memory of past cruising.

They should not overdo it with their two class society.

They offer a variety of perks to suite guests, high-level cruisers and those who purchase VIP  benefits with The Key program.  Nothing wrong with that.

Currently there are all kinds of areas/benefits only for those who purchase expensive accommodations, cruise a lot or buy the VIP Key program. (Reserved seating in theaters, special restaurants or special place for some meals, private flowrider  times, Suite or Crown  lounge access, boarding day lunch, free drinks, free internet, gifts, and the list goes on and on)
