greenbeanie Posted November 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2023 Such a silly question, given the cuisine options onboard, but I enjoy pretzels with a cocktail. Is there anywhere on board where I can find pretzels? Chips, too? I've cruised Celebrity once, and none were apparent.
MandL Posted November 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2023 In the old days the martini bar used to serve a complimentary small carafe of pretzels & nut mix, but no more. The shops on board that sell liquor usually have pringles for sale, and if you are in a suite you can ask your butler for a basket of potato chips.
mrgabriel Posted November 16, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2023 On our last cruise (September) there were bar snacks in the Rendezvous lounge but they seemed to be doled out very judiciously. Never during busy hours.
Cap_D Posted November 16, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) We recommend bringing your own salty snacks, and for that matter gummy candy if that is something you enjoy. Perhaps a few as they may go stale quickly depending on storage and climate. On a sailing in Edge class Retreat in March 2023 we saw potato chips as an accompaniment for lunch in Eden Cafe and in the Retreat Lounge. Quantities were sparse. Our butler in 2022 in a SS did bring Lays chips for a snack at some point. He was likely let go, and there are no assurances SS will get any services. On both cruises, we don't recall seeing pretzels anywhere, including no pretzel crisps at the store where Pringles were available. We saw no seasoned bar mix at any bar. Sweet pastries are plentiful. We observed essentially the same frozen fries (with a rice starch coating for crispiness) at all venues. Some may have a spritz of truffle oil or sprinkle of parmesan if it's a specialty. We didn't see any signs of a hand fresh cut fry. Edited November 16, 2023 by Cap_D
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 16, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2023 On Reflection you can get some small carafes of salty snacks at Passport and Ensemble but you must ask for them….they aren’t automatically out on tables any more. potato chips quickly go stale at sea and you hardly ever see them.
thebutlerdidit Posted November 16, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 16, 2023 On the Equinox last month we were brought a small carafe of crunchy snacks in the Ensemble Lounge. We didn’t ask for them. I do remember my husband asking about “crunchies” in the past and getting a blank stare, which I completely understood!
Rare hcat Posted November 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 16, 2023 i recall that the mix in the carafe was sometimes "spicy".. , and as mentioned hit or miss.. Bring ur own small snack bags..
diesel1973 Posted November 16, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) Got off the Equinox a week ago and noticed there were no snacks at the bars. Another small item we missed. We did mentioned that in our review. Edited November 16, 2023 by diesel1973
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 16, 2023 #9 Share Posted November 16, 2023 Did you ask for snacks or just assumed there were none?
kabmab Posted November 16, 2023 #10 Share Posted November 16, 2023 I usually bring gummy candy since I'm addicted (stocked up this summer on our Apex Baltics cruise), and am now going to add some nice crackers and some chips. Also bring some trail mix. In small quantities since we're not big eaters.
dazey Posted November 16, 2023 #11 Share Posted November 16, 2023 Before Covid you could get chips at the buffet and there were walnuts available at breakfast. Have not seen them on recent cruises. You can purchase Pringles in the gift shop if you are desperate (if I feel seasick and eat, chips I feel better).
39august Posted November 16, 2023 #12 Share Posted November 16, 2023 I have seen both chips and pretzles in the liquor store for sale. I have always gotten "bar snacks" in a small carafe if I ask. This is at Passport and Ensemble bars.
retired dude Posted November 16, 2023 #13 Share Posted November 16, 2023 we always take a small box of crackers with us as we have gotten some strange looks from staff that we have asked for them in the buffet.....Usually got a shrug or a no we dont have any or yes we have stale ones.... micruiser2002 Posted November 16, 2023 #14 Share Posted November 16, 2023 We were on Millie last month and no snacks for sale in the store. My GS ate a small bag in our Sky Suite at the cost of $6. They did have some in the retreat lounge but they were not the best when we had them. We ended up buying some when in port.
Travelling2Some Posted November 16, 2023 #15 Share Posted November 16, 2023 It used to be one of the oddities of cruising that there were never any potato chips. I love potato chips and only eat them on vacation so I noticed. Our last few cruises have been on NCL and there were potato chips available every afternoon. Saw them multiple times in the buffet, observation lounge and pool decks where the burgers/hot dogs are. They also did put out the little bottles of "crunchies" on the bars but it was when they were not too busy and might have been because I tip.

That’s a new one. He should have been eating Utz rippled. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Utz-Ripples-Original-Potato-Chips-Gluten-Free-Party-Size-12-5-oz-Bag/812741325

Let go due to the purge of butlers in August 2023.
