Mimiya11 Posted January 4 #1 Share Posted January 4 I recently read that Blu on the Ascent offers outdoor seating. For those that have recently sailed on Ascent, how was the outdoor dining experience?

jelayne Posted January 5 #5 Share Posted January 5 Looks like a nice spot for breakfast or dinner when the ship is not sailing. It may be a bit too exposed to the wind when the ship is going 18-20kn.
mrgabriel Posted January 5 #6 Share Posted January 5 We were on Ascent last week (Christmas cruise) and this wasn't open, nor did anyone mention it. We thought that it was just a public deck.
Rare hcat Posted January 5 #7 Share Posted January 5 looks great.. for a port day breakfast! much nicer looking than the area outside BLU on EDGE...love the flowers and sea view..
miched Posted January 5 #8 Share Posted January 5 That area was also shown on the other Edge class ships. It wasn’t used because of the winds and other elements and eventually abandoned. There is a outside patio next to the Eden Cafe. You will see many die hards out there trying to eat with the wind blowing stuff off of their plates, and being baked by the sun. No thanks Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

richczarnecki Posted January 9 #10 Share Posted January 9 Are Retreat passengers able to access Blu for breakfast instead of Luminae? Any opinions on if one is better than the other for breakfast? Might be nice to have breakfast outside one day.
jelayne Posted January 9 #11 Share Posted January 9 I prefer Luminae for breakfast as it isn’t as crowded and I like the menu better than Blu’s breakfast. For dinner I prefer Blu.
cruise47 Posted January 9 #12 Share Posted January 9 Have this outside Blu restaurant area been used on any cruises on the new Ascent sailings?
jayoldschool Posted January 9 #13 Share Posted January 9 It was not used on my recent xmas cruise. It will cool and windy out there. I could see this being a really nice option on a summer evening in the Med!
Empress217 Posted January 9 #14 Share Posted January 9 We were on the Ascent in mid December and we were told there were no plans for an outdoor Blu area.
Rare hcat Posted January 9 #15 Share Posted January 9 On Ascent, seems at this point it is an unused area off of BLU??? No.one has eaten there? Can the area be accessed another way than through BLU,? I vaguely recall it could be accessed on EDGE by anyone, if folks just wanted to sit there with no service? Negative is that these outdoor seats were originally counted as BLU seating for capacity counts...but are illusory??? And it is part of the pr/ ads for ASCENT! Did I miss something? on EDGE..they kept the drapes closed all the time..no sea views, but there was a table seating area through a door in BLU. It faced the life boats and other ugly main equpiment . . On Beyond, we were there for dinner and it had much better views.
