WORLD CRUISE 2024

Recommended Posts

Welcome to our new Segmenters!  About 164 cruisers arrived today.  Welcome back @Marylebone37 who I got to meet today.  Singapore has a huge mall connected to the Cruise Terminal.  We went shopping today.  We had a Manicure/ Pedicure.  They did a great job!  It was $54 a fraction of the ship’s spa.

We had a big crew turnover.  New Captain, Aivo Palm.  He does a great job of informing guests of pertinent information prior to sailing.  (“ That’s all from my side.”)

Franck Galzy is the new GM.  We will miss Massimo!

We have a new CD Andrew and ACD Nicole.

New flowers in the room.

Good Morning from Port Kelang, Malaysia.  IMG_6703.thumb.jpeg.da8cd0e989bbb33a6d920fb34c8752eb.jpeg

This is an industrial port located 33 miles from Kuala Lumpur.  The bus ride to town will be 60-“if you’re lucky” to 75 minutes.  The weather forecast is 95° with thunderstorms and rain 75%.  We were on the Highlights 5.5 hours starting at noon.  We will pass on this tour.  If someone can post here that would be great.

This was in our rooms when we returned from dinner.  We scanned the code, and it says URL not found.  So much for the E brochure.

Thank you so much for posting this @crusin7 and it is indeed the Splendor, wow, our favorite ship!! I bet the link won’t work until official date of announcement.

Earlier you posted your beautiful pictures from high tea. What were those delectable looking lavender treats?

The menu featured purple for the month of March for International Women’s Day.

1 to 28 March 2024

As the official colour of International Women’s Day (8 March), purple symbolises justice and dignity. Commemorate the occasion with the well-loved Purple Afternoon Tea, our annual fund-raising initiative.

S$5 nett from the proceeds of each adult’s purple-hued Afternoon Tea set will be donated to United Women Singapore (https://uws.org.sg/), a non-profit organisation committed to advancing women's empowerment and fostering gender equality.

Girl Power in Full Force
This marks the first year that the Purple Afternoon Tea is presented by Senior Pastry Sous Chef Jamie Ho, one of the key talents behind the signature Expressions Afternoon Tea menu at The Landing Point (https://www.fullertonhotels.com/fullerton-bay-hotel-singapore/dining/restaurants-and-bars/the-landing-point).

Drawing inspiration from the allure of a moonlit garden, Chef Jamie has composed a purple-tinged medle
y of savoury and sweet, adorned with edible blossoms; reminiscent of the beauty that emerges beneath the soft glow of the night sky.

I’m not sure which ones you are talking about.  They were all delicious!

I was also able to open it!! Gut reaction? I think I prefer 2026 but would love either.

This luscious pastry makes me crave something sweet. Were they filled?

The small lavender coloured 'sandwich' type cakes are macarons, wildly popular in the UK at present, made with egg whites and almond.  Not to be confused with 'macaroons', which are also made with egg whites but with coconut and less elegant to look at, a sort of 'British version.

Neither has flour in them, and macarons are at present considered a very smart addition to any afternoon tea.  And delicious if you like almonds.

We did the Historic Georgetown excursion-4 hours. We saw a Thai  Buddhist and Chinese Temple.  We had refreshments at a hotel. Then saw the Chew Jetty. Old Chinese houses built on stilts. That was the most colorful of all.

Know and love macarons 💜 but was hoping to find out about the shiny and plump pastries on the plate. The OP thinks it’s a black currant, yum!
