Butterbean1000 Posted January 19 #1 Share Posted January 19 We haven't cruise since right before the shut down. If I remember, Red Frog had a fish bowl for a discounted price at embarkation and the casino bar used to have happy hours. Are there any happy hours at any of the bars now? We'll being sailing on the Magic in May.
theckenlady Posted January 19 #2 Share Posted January 19 Happy hours on random days. No more at embarkation as they wised up to people storing up half price beers on day 1.
bg2310 Posted January 19 #3 Share Posted January 19 Bottles of wine are half off in the Steakhouse on the first night. I might have read somewhere that sometimes the MDR also provides does this on some ships, but I don't know how true that one is.

I thought you got a free bottle of wine at the steak house on embarkation night. Apparently a lot has changed in the 4 years since we cruised. The time I went to the Steakhouse on embarkation night on the Freedom, they said wine bottles were half off, but failed to mention that the lowest priced one would be free. Interesting. Probably did that on purpose. In any case, that's certainly good to know for next time!

Thank you. We always enjoyed kicking off the cruise with a fish bowl in the Red Frog. The last time we were there, they were out of fish bowls and the were serving drinks in pitchers.

To be more specific, your options for the free bottle are Chardonnay or Cabernet from Santa Helena, their house wine.

Caribbean cocktails and Caribbean beer (which I think was really Mexican) was 1/2 price. It wasn't everything.

stobe1 Posted January 26 #12 Share Posted January 26 As the great philosopher Ray Stevens once mused, "Happy hour is the saddest time of the day".

I have taken six Carnival cruises on five different ships in the past year, and none of them had happy hours or half price fish bowls at Red Frog Pub - and I always check, because I have seen them on other cruises.
