I know @sonomaphilwill probably do a much better job than I will; but I’d like to offer a different perspective.

This will be my first Solo cruise as well as my first Platinum cruise.

Definitely not the first Mexican Riviera run…this will be number 9 (live in Central Valley of California, so..we ain’t got much choice here, haha)

Originally this was a casino “free” interior cruise; but I bid on a Obstructed Balcony upgrade for $100p/p…but Princess countered with $130p/p for a Deluxe Obstructed Balcony…so I bit..I knew I had a 1/6 chance of getting a “bad” one (aka: in the VERRRY front of the ship)..well…I got a “bad” one..it is what it is..dunno if I get seasick as we’re always midship.

I will probably buy the Plus package as I’m going Solo; and since the itinerary is so played out; might not even get off the ship. (A week of not having to cook for myself is great!)

I’ll be driving down to LA here in about an hour, with an ETA of 1pm.

Bon Voyage! And congrats on reaching platinum! We’ll be on the Discovery in April for the Total Solar Eclipse cruise. Will enjoy reading along as it’s always nice to get a different perspective.  Thank you for sharing your trip with us!

I'm interested as to how Princess is for solos. I usually do NCL when I'm on my own because their solo programs are great. I do LA cruises with husband but I'll do some on my own if you have a good time

Please don’t judge my solo experience on princess by this..it’s not solo by choice, let’s just say.

Following to hear your thoughts on the forward balcony. We're booked to Alaska in the big forward mini suite, but put my daughter and her friend in one of the forward deluxe obstructed cabins nearby. We're trying to decide if they should stay there or move more mid-ship (first cruise for both of them). Hope the cabin works out well for you, and appreciate your feedback on it.

The first time I cruised solo I was very nervous about the experience.  But I had a total blast and only cruise solo now.  I can keep my room tidy, keep to my own agenda, and the people you meet and the attention you get when you are alone is fantastic!  Sometimes in the evening I do get a little lonesome, but it's so easy to meet people and strike up conversations when you are by yourself.

We’ll see..like I said; not solo by choice.

Got to my room; watched safety video; mustered…chilling in the cabin now watching the original Predator (with Ahnold!)

in other news; I tried to buy plus right when I got onboard; but they wouldn’t let me because “the other person in the cabin has to buy it too”; so I have to wait until we officially sail; so she is a “no show” and then I should be able to buy it

FWIW I have a LARGE balcony..so for anyone who 2000% doesn’t get seasick;’this may be just the cabin for you.

So I think I’m going to go dark until tommorow

i cant get plus for $60..and may NOT be able to with my wife being a “no show” (because the system still has two people in my cabin and wants to charge $120 a day)

Well THAT sucks. I’d try to track down a higher up in guest services and see what they can do. Good luck!

I think it's because you would have gotten medallion sent for free so if you picked it up at the port they credited you?
