I am on Independence right now and have showed your post to bartenders at both the Schooner Bar and Casino Bar. All the bartenders insist they don’t get anything for free drinks they provide, but I told them you would never post something misleading online.

Hi @PhillyFan33579.  We live in the Philly burbs.   We are on Indy next year on a 12 night.  We have cruised her twice in the past but years ago.  Have you tried the specialty restaurants at all?  How is the MDR?  We will be in a suite but no CK on this ship.  And very limited specialty restaurants.  Can I ask how many nights is your cruise?  Are there dining packages for purchase onboard?  Other than the UDP?

Thanks but it doesn't matter to me if they do or not honestly, as I tip them anyway when I use the voucher.  And over the cruise you get better drinks!

Amen to that brother.

My sister is Diamond and is going on a short cruise with her granddaughter who is Emerald later this year. My sister doesn't drink much, can she share her vouchers with her legal drinking age granddaughter?

Yes, you are free to share your vouchers with anyone you'd like.

Thanks, I told her she could, but she thought it was the same rules as a drink package.

A drink pkg is unlimited but vouchers are a set number is why they are treated differently..

When buying a drink package - alcoholic or not - do both the 1st and 2nd passenger in a stateroom have to purchase?  My daughter #2 will be sharing a stateroom with her sister.  Sister (daughter #1) does not drink, but daughter #2 wants the drink package.

If they call in the order, the 2nd person can just get the refreshment package (but they do have to at least purchase that, assuming they are both 21+).

I've been Diamond for a while and I've never had a bartender ask me if I wanted to use my diamond voucher.  As long as I haven't used all 4 of mine, they always just use it without me telling them to.

Same here!

Cruising in 3 weeks in WOTS.

My husband and I are both Diamond and get 4 drinks a day, 8 in total.

I bought the deluxe package, he did not, because we have the 8. The idea is me use the package and him the 8.

My question is, will they give him any problems once he uses his 4 and he attempts to use mine, if we are both in the same cabin?
Or will I need to order for him?

Thanks in advance.

Am I confused? You are both in same cabin?  My understanding is BOTH passengers would need to purchase deluxe drink package. Exceptions made where passenger2 does not drink alcohol so they are allowed to purchase refreshment drink/non alcoholic package, you need to call to have Royal do this manually.

IIRC, bartender needs to swipe card to charge Diamond drink, so you would need partners/spouse card when you have reach your Diamond limit?

Did you read post #108?

Yes, I read post #108.
Yes, we are in the same cabin.
Yes, we have one Deluxe & one Refreshment.
Yes, we did exactly what was mentioned in post #108.

I simply told them we have 8 diamond drinks between us, so the need for two deluxe was not needed. They said ok, so long as I bought a refreshment as well.

I've never had a problem using my wifes remaining drinks later in the evening when she is sound asleep in the cabin.

I might have a problem if I returned to the cabin and woke her up, lol, but like you, I use hers all the time since she barely drinks.

Hope you're having a great time over there! Looking forward to your Utopia thoughts while we're finishing up Wonder next week.

I just give my card to my husband when we are in pool area or during evenings. He brings drinks for me. If I didn’t use all my drinks he could.

Question for upcoming Canary Island cruise....when in Spanish waters a 10% tax is added to all drink purchases...does this include the free diamond drinks?

I'd say no, as they are still free in other ports. 0 X 18% is 0. 0 X 10% still 0.

Never thought of doing it this way, but that’s a great idea! I think we might do the same for our upcoming cruise, the drink package is sooo overpriced and feels like we’re  wasting the diamond drinks if we both buy the package. Its too bad they dont offer a diamond discount for it.

You might know this already, but you get a discount when you reach Diamond Plus (30%) and Pinnacle (40%).

A perk that starts at Diamond is the ability to use one of your drink vouchers to buy a bottle of wine at a discount.  40% off for under $100 or 20% off for over $100.

6_Each day of the cruise, Diamond members receive four (4) complimentary drink vouchers, Diamond Plus members receive five (5) complimentary drink vouchers, and Pinnacle Club members receive six (6) complimentary vouchers up to $14 in value ($13 on Singapore sailings and $15 on Australia sailings). These vouchers can be used at any time and at any bar onboard or onshore at our private destinations. Drink vouchers may also be used toward a discount off the purchase of any bottle of wine — 20% off bottles over $100 and 40% off bottles under $100. Every time a drink voucher is redeemed, a zero-dollar ($0) receipt will be provided and must be signed. Youth members will receive the same daily allotment of complimentary vouchers as their parents of the same tier and may be used toward the purchase of non-alcoholic beverages (including mocktails). All drink vouchers reset daily at 5:00am and are redeemable until 4:59am the next day. Excludes Starbucks, Bionic Bar, and Desserted Milkshake Bar.
