Doesn't really matter whether is coded or not.  Would need a manual check to eliminate tailgaters.

From my experience and what others have posted, RCI has someone check everyone’s card when the lounge is limited to D+ and Ps.

They were checking everyone on the Anthem TA, even though D was not excluded during HH.

Eh...don't feel bad.   Pinnacles really never know if they have access to SL or Concierge Lounges any longer either, until we board.  Unless we are in a full suite, which 99% of the time we are.

Since you still have to use your vouchers even in the Crown Lounge...there is no reason not to use them around the ship in the various lounges as well if you have restricted access.

Being new to being Diamond, I thought well, this is disappointing, after reading this I see that it doesn't make much difference at all, so thank you.

Just looked at my Sea Pass card from our Symphony cruise a few weeks ago.  It says Diamond Plus on it.  When going into the Crown Lounge there was card reader access to open the door.

I always remember a card reader like on the cabin doors. That wouldn't work if D were not allowed only during the CAS HH. The CLC would need to personally check everyone's Seapass cards.

That ends up being in the same stinky can of worms as limiting the top 30 Pinnies into SL/CK.   😄   LA Maneesh (who is now promoted to GS manager) told us they tried it once recently on Wonder...it was a disaster.  They have not done it since according to what he told us last week.

It's a stinky can of worms alright. Like always the decision makers sitting in their ivory towers are screwing over their loyal guests.

And the people working in the trenches have to deal with the angry results of their ivory tower decision-making.  🙄 I feel sorry for the employees who have to face the angry travelers.

So true....sigh.   And the unfortunate thing is that when they finally realize they are driving off their loyal cruisers...it will be too late.

That's why "we" would never pitch a hissy fit directly to a staff member that has no control over the situation no matter what the issue is. There are other avenues to voice our complaints and concerns to. Of course back to those in the ivory tower.   🙄

Absolutely.   And in that same light...the poor crew members that are so scared to enforce rules in place for fear of retribution from the spoiled "me first" pax.   It was pretty bad on Wonder last week.

Though one couple apparently did not get away with something.   Security was waiting for them to pack so he could escort the pair off the ship.  The poor guy was there when I went up for coffee, and still there when we went for breakfast this morning.

Not sure what the situation was, but the cabin he was standing in front of ....was always the one with half eaten food scattered on the carpeted hallway floor around the door...not always actually in the plate...along with beer cans and drink glasses.    I was.... of course, teasing him that the day would get better later...he agreed with a wink.  😉

I think the writing is on the wall about the exclusion of Ds from the Crown Lounge....not just during Happy Hour.

IMHO...hence the reason for the rush to change all the name plates on the doors.   Suites Lounge/Concierge lounges for suites....Crown Lounge for D+ and Pinnies.   Like it or not...I think that is the route that is coming...RCI just easing into it a little at a time.

Though years ago when they dumped Ds out of the then Concierge Lounges...it was all at once...rip off the bandaid.  😮

And where does it stop? Are all D+ next or just us with less than 350 CAS cruise points? As you know we like the CL (DL). That's why I'm so vocal and PO about this entire Diamond and even Pinnacle thing that you are experiencing.  Take the so called carrot away but still want us to cruise with RC. It really PO me off how RCG is handling the nightmare they created and treating the CAS program with. Emails go unanswered or a blanket response of blah, blah, blah!!

Totally agree my friend.  The carrot has been dangling a bit too much.   When we originally turned Pinnacle, we thought..."Oh Yeah...access to CL/SL and CK on ships that have them"!  Nice!  Well worth chasing the Pinnacle carrot.  Now......

Nope, it is constantly in doubt if we as Pinnacles are allowed in those lounges unless we cruise in a GS and above.

In fact when years ago Ds were kicked out of the (at that time) only suites/loyalty lounges (Concierge Lounge)...it was just after we made Diamond.  Had to wait to be D+ then to access or be in suite. Though we did love the Diamond Events up until they finally put in the keyed access Diamond Lounges to appease the masses as an alternative.

Lets face it...RCI no longer cares about their loyal cruisers.  They are after the quick fix of packing in families on mega theme park style ships.

As Diamond, you will get your four drinks/per person/per day, which you would still have to use even if they permit D into the Crown Lounge, including the Happy Hour.  We love the drinks perk, as it saves quite a bit of money. Don't forget that you can use them on specialty coffees (not directly from Starbucks, though), and bottled water, so if you have leftover vouchers at the end of the day, you can ask the bartender for bottled water.

Happy Hour offers hot and cold hors doevres, dessert bites etc.  We are typically not hungry enough to partake much, knowing that dinner is at about 7pm for us.  At all other times, I have found the Crown Lounge to be mostly  peaceful and relaxing.  I typically work on my laptop while cruising, so it's a nice spot for it.  The cappucino/coffee machine there is also sweet...

Yes, the Crown Lounge is only for Diamonds, Diamond Plus and Pinnacles. No matter the cabin category.

You have to be pinnacle or in a suite to be in the suite lounge, lol, unless they limit to top 3p pinnacles. So some pinnacles can go to suite lounge. It's ok with me, I'm d+. Unless I book a full suite, it's for suite pax.

I can always go in crown lounge, right now. I dont predict the future.
