Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted March 11 #1 Share Posted March 11 Hello, we booked the Beyond April 27 cruise, the only choice of cabin available was the most expensive suite or an oceanview guarantee cabin. We chose the oceanview guarantee cabin and still do not have a cabin assignment. For those who have previously booked a guarantee cabin when was your cabin assigned to you, how far in advanced from the sailing? I wonder if anybody who booked guarantee cabin was not assigned a cabin and got bumped from the sailing? I had no choice, it was the only cabin assignment available to us and I been watching it each day with no availability besides the most expensive suite. kaysha2004 Posted March 11 #2 Share Posted March 11 The description of the room is "guarantee" which means you are guaranteed to have at least an ocean view, or maybe even higher. Arizona Wildcat Posted March 11 #3 Share Posted March 11 Relax. You could be assigned a cabin today or tomorrow or not until the day before your cruise departs. The longer you wait the more likely it will be an upgrade to maybe a veranda. Lots of veranda cabins. In our experience the GTY's were assigned anywhere from 30 days to 1 week prior to sailing. But as others have indicated, it could be anytime between now and day of sailing. Do not be concerned as you will be assigned a stateroom and you will not get "bumped". And, once assigned, if you don't like the location, depending on who you booked through you can contact the cruise line or your travel agent and they can move your stateroom to another location based on availability within the assigned stateroom category and sub-category. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And I have heard of both. In our experience, as mentioned, that has been from 30 days to 1 week prior. But everyone's experience can certainly vary. Don't think your timing has anything to do with it being the "lowliest" of the suites. More likely triggered by a booking algorithm. My other half got aqua class and concierge offers but we wanted this particular sailing so they created a new offer while on the phone for an oceanview comp. High on the Seas Posted September 18 #16 Share Posted September 18 I was browsing the website and they had a sky suite guarantee for a 7 day cruise out of Port Canaveral next February for just a bit more than Aqua class. I was surprised to see two weeks later when opening the app that we had a room number assigned. We were assigned an Aqua Class suite. I never would have thought to have a room assigned that early. Our suite price was almost the same as Prime Aqua class factoring in premium drinks and wi-fi which we normally do. And the Aqua suite has some additional benefits the normal Sky Suite doesn’t have. I didn’t think our room would be assigned for quite a while since our cruise isn’t till The end of February. It was a last minute decision to add a back to back cruise. We received our cabin number within a week after booking, 3 weeks before the cruise. My understanding is you are “guaranteed” a room in the same class as you booked but never lower. Once your room is assigned that is your room even if it is higher than your guaranteed class. We had a “guaranteed” sky suite and ended up with an Aqua sky suite so we got a bit lucky. This selection is completely at the discretion of Celebrity. I don’t think this prohibits you from bidding during move up but your final room could be assigned anywhere from months to days or even at the port. It could be on any floor, any location where suites exist including accessible rooms. You’re getting a better rate on a suite than if you select the cabin outright. If you can deal with the uncertainty of waiting for a room assignment and don’t care where they put you sit back and get ready to enjoy the suite life. Could be done per the rules of the game, but have never once heard of it happening. Doesn't matter to this, but... Assume you meant "higher level" and not "upper level".
