Does not make sense to me at all.  First they are restricting Pinns into the SL/Ck...now they want to let us bring in non Pinnacles...even if those are in an inside cabin.?   No ...does not make sense to me.

Sheezz...🤔

And this is supposed to be an excited benefit for Pinnacles?  Excuse me?

This should prove to be a bone of contention.  As it reads, a P booked in an interior and who has enough points to enter SL when restriction is in place can bring in a non-P cabin mate, while a P booked in a JS can’t enter SL?  Mr Bayley’s assistants have probably started a pool to bet on when the first email comes in.

Adding this:  What prompted this change?  I think that many of us understand that a lot of the decision making at RCL is reactionary.  Wouldn’t you think they would have run out of bandaids a long time ago?

Just texted my dear friend, Cruising Grandma (Pinn), about the letter. She said that she received the letter by email today. So, it looks like all Pinns will be receiving the email.

When I visit the SL or CK as a solo or as the only Pinnacle in a cabin I typically consume one seat but at a table for two people.  Rarely will another solo Pinnacle/Suite guest attempt to sit with me.

Consequently this new policy doesn't really impact the SL/CK capacity for me as a solo Pinnacle.

If I share a cabin with my non-Pinnacle son for example, as I did last year on a cruise, now I can bring him with me into the SL/CK assuming I myself have access on a cruise.  He would sit across the table from me consuming a chair that would likely otherwise go unused.  Plus I cruise with him once every couple of years. No impact.

If my son had his own cabin, then I can't bring him with me into the SL/CK assuming I myself have access on a cruise.

Grandma and Grandpa Pinnacle who book separate cabins and have one non-Pinnacle guest in their respective cabins is a possibility but probably not a frequent scenario.  I'm not saying it will never occur, I'm saying it's not that often.

I think the target is Pinnacle parents of dependent children.  By policy Pinnacle is not conveyed to dependent children so can Pinnacle parents bring dependent children from their cabin into the SL/CK?  By policy no, until now.

As the demographic of Pinnacle has shifted younger they need to accommodate the Pinnacle parents with dependent children.  That's probably not a large portion of the Pinnacle population so impact should be minimal.

I know a couple of Pinnacle parents with dependent children but as it turns out they generally book suites so for them it's a moot point.

They have mountains of data to run models from.  In reality I think they ran the numbers and it didn't amount to a significant impact in the modeling outcomes.

Any impact is accounted for by adjusting the threshold over time.  They set a threshold and observe the numbers over a few months.  Then they adjust the threshold.  Over time they learn how to set the threshold for typical cruises and for special events such as holiday cruises and elite heavy like transatlantics.

The most likely impacted are junior Pinnacles who get locked out due to being low on the totem pole.

The non-Pin must share the cabin with the Pin.

Yes, thanks I know that from reading the "new and exciting perk for Pinns" 😉  Wahhooo! I am soooo excited.  🤪

I still find that ironic.   Just recently RCI was banning Pinns when numbers were high...now they want the Pinns to bring in non Pinnacles...and call it an exciting new perk!  Huh??  🤨

I don't see this as a massive increase, or even a minor one.  How many Pinns go on cruises with friends that are not Pinnacles and share a cabin?  I see more solos than met Pinns that brought some random friend to share the cabin.

This isn't about a spouse- since they are given the same status as the main person.  This is about a friend.

I suppose RCI wanted to toss the Pinns a bone after all the exclusions were happening...albeit worthless bone.  😉 😄

No wonder the lounges will be/are over crowed. Maybe the next hairbrained idea will be letting D and D+ do the same in the CL! 🤬

Having dated a few ladies over the years and subsequently making it to the point of sharing a cabin with some it is a nice perk.  I'll be able to bring my "date" with me into the SL/CK without having to contemplate when it's time to make them a "spouse" in the eyes of the CAS.

I'm not looking to get remarried so this is a welcome perk.

Plus since I am already consuming a table for two by myself, allowing my "cabin date" in shouldn't really impact anyone.

Unintendend consequeces!

Two couples are traveling together: two Ps and two others. One P will go in each cabin. Voila, all four now have access.

We used to do that to get around the drink package restriction.

As @twangster mentioned that is likely a very rare scenario - especially someone booking their SO in another cabin just to take advantage of their "perk".

We are already thinking about that very issue.

Booking someone in another cabin is not permanent.

We booked the two guys in the 'drink package' cabin and the two ladies in the 'dry' cabin. A trip to GS services and the cards are swapped.

Consider that typically the Pinnacle count on the ship is between 1.6% and 1.8%.  Now factor in a small fraction of that going to extreme lengths just so that another couple get SL access but will not get any free drinks, rather they may need to consume their Pinnacle hosts vouchers if the leaches are not at least D.

Why would anyone go these extreme measures for nothing but the ability to join their Pinnacle hosts in the SL, but never go on their own, and get no free drinks, other than using their Pinnacle’s hosts vouchers?

Seems like a lot of effort with little gain, but even if one such couple did, the overall impact is negligible.

And that is assuming they think they will be above the threshold which they won’t know until T-48h.

If they want access to the SL that bad, go for it.  That's a lot just to get into a place and sit to talk and eat more stuff.

We certainly would not do that just to get into the SL - there's zero financial benefit for it.

Maybe for CK.  But to go through all that effort for CK?  Ok...

The number of people who actually go through all of that would be even smaller than the Pins who are sailing with friends in the same cabin.

See post #4.  😜

People also do it for balcony discounts.

Spoiler alert.  I’ve been in most of the suite lounges.

On Royal Caribbean it isn’t a massive perk.

I think some here have been brainwashed by Royal into thinking it’s a lot more than it is.

PS - the coffee machine in the Liberty Crown Lounge is better than the one in the Suite Lounge.  Just don’t tell any suite guests that…

I thought suite lounge still had free drinks during happy hour. You mean if I was a pinnacle and brought in my cabin mate they arent allowed the free lounge suite drinks?

Non suite Pinns have to use vouchers in the suite lounge.

I agree for the most part. Once they removed free drinks, cold food was not a big draw.  It's really not worth the hike on Quantum class ships unless you are in a 'free drink' suite.

Exceptions: 1] I really like the Radiance class Concierge Clubs.  2]  Could be a winner on Oasis class with free beer and wine. Plus, will they stop you from using CK next door?

And?   Equipment breaks.  Parts stores are few and far between at sea.  Sometimes they have to order parts.  It happens.

Just saying.  Suite lounge machine was better on that sailing.
