Rare laurieal Posted April 18 Author #151 Share Posted April 18 (edited) Guess who has two thumbs and two functioning brakes! I got picked up from the Pop Century this morning around 9:15 from a Mears driver who speaks French. I was there a bit early so I called my mom to wish her a happy birthday and we chatted until 10 when the store opened. The guy found a screw that would work and although he was disappointed that the repair didn’t look pretty (screw is a little long), the brake is working so I’m happy. I’m currently waiting for the same taxi who dropped me off earlier and I’ll go meet my friends at Epcot. Oh, and it was Florida Mobility that helped me with my chair! I promised the guy I would send all my friends there. If you’re ever in the Orlando area and your mobility device needs some repair, Alan is your guy. I agree with you both. If I remember correctly the audience members were actually cast members, as they were involved in “stunts”. As for the plane fire/explosion portion of the stunt show, you could feel the heat from the top rows of the theatre.

I also was part of the audience participation years ago, you had to make lots of noise to get chosen and I remember jumping up and down, it was fun and they gave us outfits to wear on stage.
Rare laurieal Posted April 18 Author #155 Share Posted April 18 Thanks, everyone! I’m glad my memory isn’t going. There may have been some difficulties on their set that made it impossible to do the full show and we came in at the very last minute so perhaps we missed an announcement. I’ll just have to see it again next time 😊
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #156 Share Posted April 19 Time to play catch up! The last time I saw you I was waiting for the same taxi driver to pick me up from Florida Mobility. Since I knew my friends were hanging out in Epcot’s France pavilion, I asked the driver to drop me off at the Beach Club. It was a pleasant stroll from there to meet up with my friends who were waiting for me with a crème brûlée doughnut from France’s festival booth. Oh my! It was so, so delicious.
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #157 Share Posted April 19 Then, we went to the America pavilion and saw the Voices of Liberty. Strangely, I had never seen it before. It was beautiful. No one had really eaten at that point, except for the doughnut we had shared which I was told is not considered a meal. I had the gumbo from America’s festival booth and my friends had a brisket sandwich. I enjoyed the gumbo a lot, but if you’re not good with spicy foods this one will not be for you. It was definitely too spicy for my friend. After our meal, we took the boat across the lake to Canada to bring us closer to the Land pavilion where we rode Soarin’. It was my friends’ first time and they both enjoyed it a lot. The smells on that attraction are really something. I wish I could purchase some French Polynesia soap or something.
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #158 Share Posted April 19 We split up after that. My friends wanted to ride Living with the Land and Nemo and chill in the AC a little. And me, you ask? I had to save the Galaxy. I think it was even better this time. Since I knew what to expect this time, I could pay more attention to what was happening around me. I got Everyone Want to Rule the World again which makes everything feel…I don’t know…floaty? What a good ride.
Jimbo Posted April 19 #159 Share Posted April 19 As far as food goes @laurieal you are going to be in a total letdown once you get on Oasis. You have had some amazing food in Disney this week. Royal's food is nothing like what you have had this week.
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #160 Share Posted April 19 My friends and I met up after that to do the walk through Moans attraction, Journey of Water. We all thought it was gorgeous and none of us was mad to get splashed a little since it was such a hot day.

I certainly look forward to not having to pay for it 😂 But seriously, I think I know what to expect from Oasis, unless quality is very different from other RCI ships. One last Disney hurrah today and I’m hoping I’ll get to try some new things food-wise.
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #162 Share Posted April 19 It was time for a feeding after that, so we grabbed some soy-glazed sticky ribs and a chocolate terrarium from the Trowel and Trellis festival booth. I absolutely cannot pronounce Trowel and Trellis. Please don’t make me. The ribs were very good and not too chewy. The chocolate terrarium was a nice mousse, but we preferred the mousse from Docking Bay 7 in Galaxy’s Edge. We thought it had more elements to make it interesting flavour and texture-wise. Since we were so close to Mexico, we decided to enter the pavilion and ride Gran Fiesta Tour. I was hoping it would count as a Duolingo lesson. It didn’t.

It's always a short line there and a great place to cool off from the humidity and heat of the day.
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #164 Share Posted April 19 Gran Fiesta Tour sure was fun, but we had more food to try so we left Mexico and went to China. I got the Cheesy Crab Wontons and the Spicy Mala Chicken Skewer. They were both big hits for me. The peanut sauce with the skewer was super flavourful and although it was a bit overpowering for the crab wontons, I still couldn’t stop dipping them in it. Sadly, since no one wanted to share with me, that was the end of my appetite for the day. I don’t do boat rides I have to transfer into because I fear I would get stuck in them forever, but my friends rode Frozen and then we went to Germany where one of my friends got a Toasted Pretzel Bread. I tried a small piece and I loved it. It’s all the things I love in the world baked together.
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #165 Share Posted April 19 Eventually, we made our way back to where we had started: France. It was my first time riding Ratatouille and while the ride was super cute, it made me nauseated and gave me a headache. I think it was the 3D that my body didn’t like because I’m fine with the screens on Minnie and Mickey’s Runaway Railway. We found a spot where my friends would be able to sit to see the fireworks and we shared a Croque Glacé from L’artisan des glaces. It’s like an ice cream sandwich, but it involves a brioche and it’s pressed and warm but also cold and just wow. That and fireworks? A perfect end to the night and, for my friends, the trip.
Rare laurieal Posted April 19 Author #166 Share Posted April 19 It’s now the next day and my friends are at the airport waiting for their flight back to Quebec City. What about me, you ask? What park am I in? What fun adventures am I up to? Yup. I’m doing laundry. There’s around 30 minutes left on my drying cycle but then I’ll take you to Animal Kingdom. 5
Rare mac_tlc Posted April 19 #167 Share Posted April 19 Enjoying you Disney pix. My first trip was in 1973 with my Mom. I guess I liked it because trip #107 is next week! Looking forward to your TA adventures! My wife and I love the sea days. She prefers slightly smaller ships than the mega ships unless the grandkids are coming along. She has some mobility issues and uses a wheelchair occasionally if a lot of walking is involved. Interested in your experience/observations . mac_tlc

The flame effects were my favorite part of the show creatively, but adding more heat to the Florida summertime weather was not my idea of fun. 😀

The Oasis class ships are indeed huge and can be rough for people with mobility issues. Although it takes me longer to get places, I will usually take detours to avoid rolling on carpet for long distances.

I can understand your philosophy. I don’t mind hearing the song from Frozen once during the ride, I wouldn’t want to have to hear it on repeat over above the fear of being stuck on the boat. 😀 1
