It annoys me to no end. Along with no sauteed mushrooms at Guys and WiFi calling and texting being blocked. It makes no sense. Can someone give a logical reason? I'll offer a suggestion...make those items an upcharge. I'll bet there won't be a shortage then! 1

The statement was not that all gambling on board must be sanctioned by the casino. The statement was that all gambling must take place INSIDE the casino. Big difference. Which is why I pointed out that bingo takes place outside the casino.
Mike45LC Posted April 23 #111 Share Posted April 23 Serious question: How do I identify Left Right Center when it is being played somewhere on the Lido deck? Is it a card game using one normal deck of cards? Or multiple decks? Are there game pieces? How many players? I have never been aware of this particular game until this exciting thread, and now I want to watch out for it on my upcoming cruise. 1
NCsonny Posted April 23 #112 Share Posted April 23 This game was new to me too. A Google search tells me it is a dice game and sounds like fun. It can be played with regular dice or with special game-specific dice. You use three dice and typically three chips per player although the number of chips is frequently altered. Our extended family has a beach house rented for the summer and we will be testing the game for sure.

I doubt I've ever seen it being played, because as a craps player, I would almost certainly have noticed people rolling dice!

I've seen before at the Alchemy Bar tables as they are long with plenty of seating (before Alchemy opens). The Left Right Center host (organizer) was walking up and down the length of the tables with a big'ol wad of cash in his hand -- collecting and distributing money. I'm sure there was hundreds of dollars in his hand. Didn't bother me... but I do get the whole gambling not allowed rule. Cruise Lines do have to meet Federal laws and other country's laws.

Rare AFS1970 Posted April 24 #116 Share Posted April 24 If the host was walking around with 'hundreds of dollars" handing out money than something other than LCR being played. Normally each player starts with an equal stake, often as little as $3. I played for$20s once, but since that was a $60 buy in nobody was all that interested in continuing to play for that much. As for private gaming, which Carnival is well within their rights to ban, I know that in my state the definition hinges on if they players know each other and if the house takes a cut. As long as random strangers are not let into the game and the winner doesn't have to pay a vig, it is a friendly game and not regulated. However, Carnival doesn't flag their ships in my home state so your mileage may vary.

Rude inconsiderate and the wrong cruise line for that kind of behavior. Charter a yacht if you want public areas of the ship for your exclusive use at a whim. I feel it is no different then people saving chairs around the pool all day with no one sitting therer.

Rare ledges1 Posted April 24 #119 Share Posted April 24 My neighborhood golf club plays LRC,Bunco and Bingo. I am not paying thousands of $s to go on a cruise to play neighborhood games. Maybe the casino should organize LCR and Bunco games and take a cut.

Rare AFS1970 Posted April 28 #122 Share Posted April 28 After reading my last post, I realized that organizing a group to play a game here on CC or on [that other social media site] might just stretch the definition of strangers just a bit. We’ve played this game with my in-laws for years - using the game pieces it comes with. You don’t need to play with real money. How anyone thought playing with real money with strangers in the lido was an acceptable idea is beyond me. Why not just start up a poker game then?! Also it’s people doing this hogging up space in the lido when others want to eat that drives me crazy. The whole situation is all kinds of wrong. SMH Sorry not sorry, but I "hog up space in the lido" when I want to play cards or a game and that's where I find myself. I paid for my cruise and am allowed to hog whatever I want, provided I am actually doing the hogging. It's not like I throw a towel on the table and walk away for 4 hours like people do with pool chairs.
