NCL Epic Haven - 2 bedroom

Recommended Posts

Hello - Trying to pick the best 2 bedroom in the Haven on NCL Epic.  I've read the reviews about noise from above on 17 but I think I'm more concerned with being so close to the pool/courtyard area if we choose 16 and the noise from that.  If I'm looking for peace and quiet and don't mind stairs, 17 is the best, right?  Any favorites?  I've exhausted the YouTube videos 🙂  Thanks!

Hello @Cruiser4955 and welcome to the Cruise Critic message boards!

Thank you for your new thread on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns a specific cruise line ship and is off topic there.

To help you out your new thread has been moved to the Norwegian Cruise Line forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have sailed NCL Epic frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

The Cruise Critic website and the message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are so glad you found us! Please feel free to browse the message board categories list for our various forums. Click here Cruise Critic Community. I suggest you put the link in your browser's Favorites for quick and easy access in the future.

Please read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there. And be sure to research the ports of call on your itinerary.

Please remember the following portion from the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships:

Browse Before You Post
Browse a topic first to see if your question has already been asked or answered by someone else. Also, many of the major cruise lines forums have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) topic that has been created by our members. Give that a try first. Browsing is your #1 best resource! Please post your messages in an appropriate topic so that you'll receive the best possible response. It is very time consuming to move misplaced messages that are in the wrong topics.

Anytime you need to start a new thread on a forum, first make sure you are in the correct forum for your topic. Word your new thread title in a way to help the members know exactly the information you seek. This greatly helps the members browsing through the thread titles and if they know the information, they will post a reply to you.

Also, it is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic such as one cruise line, one ship, one port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention your cruise line, ship, port or sail date in your message if that sort of information will help your fellow Cruise Critic members help you.

Once you book your cruise, you need to find and post on the Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship and sail date. That is where you will find fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you!

Please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the GuidelinesWe also have the following Cruise Critic article you might enjoy8 Reasons to Join a Cruise Critic Roll Call

The specific Roll Call thread for your cruise is the ONLY place on the Cruise Critic message boards where you and your fellow Roll Call thread members are allowed to post personal ads about sharing private tours, excursions or transportation with each other to save money. There is a "captive audience" there since you are all sailing together! Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that may have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, they may have already posted share requests that may interest you. Roll Calls are for people to get to know one another before their cruise. Therefore, there will be all kinds of discussion!

Once you locate the Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship and sail date if one is already created, first read through the whole thread to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you. Then use the dark blue Reply to this topic button to join the Roll Call by posting an introductory post about yourself on the Roll Call thread. When done with your message, click the dark blue Submit Reply button.

If you want to address a particular post already in the thread, be sure to use the Quote feature on that post as I did yours above. That way all will be aware of what your post concerns. You type your message UNDER the light blue quote box then click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If the member you quoted has used the Follow feature on the thread, they will get a notification that you have replied to their post.

If a Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship & sail date has NOT been created, please feel free to create it! Just follow the directions in How To: Create A New Roll CallThen sit back and wait for your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you to join in by posting on the thread. They will appreciate you starting the Roll Call! And don't worry about any responsibilities in starting a Roll Call thread. Roll Calls belong to everyone; there is no designated leader or owner. It does not matter who started the thread.

If you ever need technical help in regard to using the Cruise Critic message board software, go to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum. You will see a large amount of "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of the forum's first page. Also, browse through the threads in the forum looking for threads of interest. Again, you will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

So sorry this is so long, but I sincerely hope this will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic!

Happy sails,

Host Kat

The 2 cabin suites on Epic 16001 and 17001 are always highly sought after because they are wider than all the other 2 bedroom suites on Epic.  They are forward and have a solarium instead of a balcony. We loved the solarium because it was so big and like another room.  It even has its own thermostat.  Deck 16 is the same floor as the concierge, pool, and restaurant.  If you want a bigger suite and you dont mind a solarium, see if one of these are available.

I dont know why NCL made these center forward cabins bigger than the rest.  The living room is 2 feet wider and the second bedroom is also 2 feet wider.

We always book the forward facing 2BR. Last time we were in 17003. Some people like/dislike the solarium balcony, but the forward facing views (from the balcony and the bathroom) can't be beat. For us, we enjoy the "air conditioned sunshine" with a separate thermostat for the the balcony.

If you can't get one of the forward 2BR, I'd go with one of the cabins on deck 17.  I've found the noise in the hallways on deck 16 worse than occasionally chairs being moved around on 17.  Plus, I've also experienced small children running around their cabin above me on deck 17, so my preferred location is deck 17.  Just stay away from a cabin near the doorway into the Heaven - the door is heavy and if people just let it go it SLAMS shut.  You won't hear in in the main bedroom, but guest in the second bedroom will definitely hear it.

Thank you!  I'm a bit claustrophobic so as much as I read/hear that the solarium decks are nice, I think I'd like the open air.  Any thoughts if I'm looking for open air... go to the sides of deck 17 then? or is the extra space note above in 17001 that much better? 🙂

We were in 2 BR 17026 last Nov. for 11 night cruise of Mediterranean. We were SO pleased with it. Our balcony was very nice & it's located very close to staircase going down to 16 for restaurant/lounge. We also enjoyed the small lounge area on 17 overlooking the pool/spa area on 16 on sea days. Quiet place to read.

We've sailed in 17010 three times.

We like this cabin because it is the last 2-bedroom port side and it is obvious where your cabin is located by the break in the hallway (it makes sense when you are there). My husband also likes this cabin because it is right across from the Haven private gym.

We were in 17004 DOS.  Great part of the ship.  Very quiet.  Loved it.

love Epic Haven and POSH.  Loved that Epic Haven had a spa treatment room for massages to slink back to the suite after relaxing treatment.

Happy to hear you guys liked this cabin as we are in this cabin come October for a TA.

My sister wanted it because it was right across from the Haven gym.

Getting very excited!!

We were in 16014 in January, 2019 and had no issues whatsoever with noise or disruptions of any kind.  Great location very close to the entrance to the courtyard as well as the outdoor dining/bar area of the restaurant.  I loved the location and would gladly book the same cabin again.

We will be in 16021 in October this year. Hopefully it will be similar to your experience!

Thank you for all the feedback! 🙂  I reserved 16001 the other day due to it sounding like it's bigger in general, but still contemplating the enclosed balcony, debating changing so appreciate all these posts.  I really want to feel that ocean air but maybe the little window on solarium is enough. 🤔

Me and the DW are just off the Epic on Tuesday and we also were in 16023 and can vouch for vacation44.  Also, the room is in a great location to get the concierge desk, the elevators, the Haven Restaurant, the main bar and the rear bar.

We've been in 16021 and in Feb/March was in 16019 next door. Both are perfect and amazing. Steps from the concierge, restaurant, bars, lounge, pool.... anything you can need. No noise issues at all. We prefer 16 with less steps to the bars.

This is my old video of 16001 from 11 years ago.  The room has been remodeled but you get a good look at the room and solarium.  The forward views are amazing especially in the shower.

Has anyone ever been in 16001 and NOT loved the solarium?  or that room for any reason? 🤔

I intentionally don't book it because I know I wouldn't like the solarium. I want a 'real' balcony, so I don't book rooms that don't have one.

I did not really want a solarium.  However the Epic has a rare and fantastic feature with forward facing cabins.  You could not enjoy a balcony facing forward with all the wind.  The view sailing forward almost makes you feel like you are on your own private yacht.  I did not think I would like the solarium until I saw how big it is.  The solarium is bigger than the balconies and the views are very peaceful.  But if being outside is important to you which it sounds like it is then I would not book it.

Not on the Epic, but we have stayed in a forward-facing DOS on the Dawn that had no balcony. We had great views from the master bedroom and decent views from the living room.

It was the right price for us (it was less than a 2-bedroom suite, plus it came with a few extra perks). My husband did appreciate the forward views from the MBR because he would sit there and look out the windows while he did dialysis on board (that was an interesting trip!).

For us, though, I would prefer a balcony.

Was that with dialysis at sea? We've been trying to finagle a family trip for hubby's large extended family, but it's tough between his uncle's dialysis needs, cousin's autism at sea needs, our preference in where we go/when we go.... The only trips I've seen DaS offer were through RCC, so curious to hear they're able to do it on NCL ships as well.
