You shared a thought process identical to mine! That’s why I played the should I/ should I not game for a bit. Finally decided that it could be a soft opening and attract loyal Captain’s Circle folks to give positive feedback on media sources.

There was an UK offer that was 50% on a selection of cruises including the plus/premier fares.

UK fares include taxes and fees the price you see is the price you pay.

Some dates the total fare(inside) was close to the full package cost.

Once you factor out the tax/fees and CA there is not a lot left for the cruise fare.

What surprised me was the Med Sun Princess cruises were included through to the transatlantic.

I have noticed that both Princess and NCL(probably others) have behind the scenes discounts to select passenger.

Good to reward loyalty.

This helps reduce the general public discounts(especially late) maintaining the higher prices which over time resets people's expectations at higher levels

If we get a Star offer would be all over them Oct/Nov is one of our cruise windows.

One thing I learned about any suspicious miss price is NEVER post on any social media call a TA or the cruise line if you can book on line.

Alerting the cruise line is the fast route to cancellation

(Same applies to anything the systems alert to unusual booking levels)

Few years back there was a solo suite misprice on the UK site, looked like a decimal point issue result 90% reduced.

It was available on line for 6 weeks before it got changed.

I was surprised they did not sell out.

Maybe not many check solo rates for suites

I passed on the find to a few other people

Everyone got their booking honoured.

I've noticed with social media that if people have a trick or a tip that works on a cruise ship, they want to share it with everybody ....that's ruining the trick or the tip.... you've got a good thing going. Keep your mouth shut.😁

So true...if this had been just a small number of bookings Princess may well have honored them but when the word was spread thru social media and some reported 800 booked on this I guess they had no choice. Good advice above.

Kathy49, I saw you on the roll call for the Oct15/25 Star.  So sorry you got all caught up in this mess. Hope you get it resolved to your liking- free inside cabin with $200 US pp or upgrade for $, or cancel with a refund.

By the way, I am off for my

BD trip this week and would appreciate  help in keeping the Roll Call active.

Thanks

Am I the only one that doesn’t understand a single word of what I just read?

EV is the initialism for "expected value" which is the weighted average of the possible outcomes of a statistical experiment.

The Michael, in his very apt post, is quite correct on all points that EV is (1) a concept that applies to many areas of life, (2) would be appropriate to be considered by people who pull out their wallets in a casino, and that (3) promotional errors present +EV.

It's fine to ignore it all, too. Don't worry be happy.

I was offered a free inside stateroom on this cruise and thought it was legit. I thought about booking it, but I am taking a free 16-night cruise of Britain and Iceland in July in an inside stateroom, and this was just too soon. When I booked the Britain and Iceland cruise I had the option to book a free Britain, Iceland, and Greenland cruise, but I didn't want to lose all the UK and Irish ports for Greenland.

I am sure other people had the offer of these free 16-day cruises to Iceland and Greenland out of Southampton, so there would have been no reason to think the Boston offer wasn't real.

I tried to cancel as I was unable to convince my wife to cruise 17 nights in an inside cabin. The reps still don't know how to deal with this. Sent another email to Jen Wright. Spending way too much time an an error not of my making.

We had an ocean view room booked and paid all the fees per their terms.  When we received the same letter today, we decided to cancel because we did not want an interior room, plus we were loosing the Princess plus and the OBC.  It felt like a “BAIT AND SWITCH” scam!  I sent off a complaint email to Customer Relations, Jan Swartz, Jon Padgett.

Sorry but it was too good to be true. Deep down, you must have known it was an error. Getting mad over Princess making an error and correcting it when you must have had a reasonable suspicion it was a glitch is - misguided.

Again - I think most people knew this was a computer glitch. You went ahead and took a chance but I suspect you knew it was an error. Now you really can't be mad because it turned out to be the case. You took a risk - and you lost.

Why would we think it’s a computer glitch when in the past there have been Casino free offerings?  This offer was no different than the previous Casino offers.  For those of us that booked and received a booking number and invoice.  It stated on the invoice the terms for the complimentary casino booking…that was no computer glitch.  I’m not mad at anyone…but, I know what I saw and paid for…obviously you did not book.

Why do you think it’s a too good to be true offer? We’ve had those exact type of offers many times!

Free mini suites reported by people who have never even been in a Princess casino is obviously a glitch. I called this out as soon as I saw it. Our last bounce back offer after 10,000 points was only free interior and $100 free play. This was very clearly a glitch in the system

The Greenland offer showed Casino offer and it was for an obstructed ocean view or an interior. It looked legit to me. What you’re talking about is on a different thread.

I’ve received Casino offers in the past and have booked them online.  The following was listed on the invoice for the Casino offer for the Greenland cruise.   Why would I think this offer was not legit with this specific language was included in our paid invoice for the cruise.  See below:

“Payment Details
Booking is paid in full.
Complimentary stateroom cruise offers are non-transferable. Invited guest must sail or full cruise fare will be applied to other guests sailing in the cabin. Casino offers are not
combinable. Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses are the responsibility of the guest and not included in this offer.
A non-refundable deposit of $200 per guest is required at the time of booking (applies to first two guests in stateroom only). Deposit will be returned to guest as onboard credit on
folio.
In the event of cancellation, the non-refundable $200 per guest deposit will be held as a cancel fee and is in addition to the cancellation schedule outlined on the booking
confirmation. This non-refundable deposit may not be claimed for reimbursement through Princess Vacation Protection.
CANCELLATION SCHEDULE
Date Fee
14-May-24 25.0 % of Total Charges
29-May-24 50.0 % of Total Charges
Date Fee
12-Jun-24 75.0 % of Total Charges
12-Jul-24 100.0 % of Total Charges”

The Star Princess offer of comped mini-suite + free Premier package is clearly a glitch.  Although I frequently play in the casinos, the best offers I've ever received from Princess are free inside cabins and sometimes free play dollars, but never the plus or premier package.

I would agree with @MsSoCalCruiser the Greenland offer on the Emerald was more in line with what I've received in the past.

Expand the above post to see what I posted and was written on our invoice for the Greenland cruise.  There was no doubt that this was a legit Casino offer.

I agree with you about the Greenland cruise, and I pointed that out in my post above.  When I saw the Greenland cruise offer it looked very similar to casino offers I've received in the past.  So yes, you had no reason to doubt the legitimacy.

The obvious glitch was the Star Princess comped mini-suite + Premier Package for pretty much anyone who logged into their Princess account.

I clicked the link from a Princess Casino email they sent me. It had numerous $0 cruise offers. I've received offers in the past for up to 32 night cruises. Only real difference was this included a $0 balcony cabin. Again, it was an offer I found from an email sent by the casino.

I saw the Greenland cruise offer on Apr 30th and it was titled a Prestige Casino offer.  At that time the staterooms offered for the Casino free offer was Balcony, ocean view and interior…subject to available.  Also, shown was a reduced price of something like $1250 pp for a mini suite and a full suite was offered at around $2450 pp.  the Prestige offer looked very appealing to us and what sold us to book under the non-refundable deposit terms of $200 pp was that the offer included Princess Plus package too.
I did not see the Star Princess free offer pop up until the following day of May 1st and was nothing was stated about that offer was a Casino offer…but it did look strange with offering free mini-suite rooms with Princess Premier pkg. I’ve never seen that generous of a free package…so, I had my doubts.

We did book the Greenland cruise and when we received the letter from Jen dated May 3rd (same letter went out for both cruises) that the offer was an error, however tgey would honor the offer but in a interior room with no Plus packages included.  Since we did not want an interior stateroom we decided to cancel and get our money back while we still could without penalty.

We have been cruising over 30 years with Princess and I’ve never seen such an error…it even crossed my mind that there may have been a disgruntled employee causing chaos for Princess.  If so, I’m sad to see that happen and respect the way Princess is handling the problem.

I suspect if not for the Star Princess error they may have honored the Greenland bookings.  But once it became a feeding frenzy where they were handing out mini-suites for free and potentially losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue they went back and revoked everyone.

They apologized for the error and changed it to an inside cabin. I think that was fair, do you?

There was a similar mistake a few years ago. They did not give individuals inside cabins for the price. They just cancelled the bookings.

Yes, Princess is being fair…I have no complaints for Princess trying to make a wrong right for their customers.  Even though we opted not to go under the revised terms, Princess still made it right for us too.

Perhaps however this was a HUGE mistake that , slowly, many began to believe it was real. Many had called and were told it was legit. While Greenland said Casino , the Star said  COMP. More and more people booked, more and more received confirmation that it was a legit deal. 800 cabins booked! At that point , it becomes even more real

But the biggest issue isn't that. Its the way it was handled. A letter goes out with options to people before even the customer service reps knew. People were given limited time. Reservations were automatically changed without confirmation. Letter states if you don't call, it will be permanent and non re fundable. All on a friday night with a Monday deadline and customr service reps that didn't know what people were talking about,

If it wasn't for someone suggesting directing emails to Jen Wright, who knows what may have happened. Kudos to her for patiently and efficiently dealing with it all but it never should have happened and the "apology" was inept and a bit threatening
