wezie Posted May 11 #1 Share Posted May 11 Hi. Going on a 7 night cruise on Symphony of the Seas in May. Does anyone know how much the drink package will be if I purchase it onboard? Also, what days are the elegant nights? Thanks!
firefly333 Posted May 11 #2 Share Posted May 11 (edited) Royal does dynamic pricing. It varies according to the current sale. No set price to purchase ahead. Onboard is always more. Says bogo but it costs more than buying ahead. I always see bogo pricing onboard .. from some made up amount. If your cruise is 7 days generally night 2 and 6 are dress up if you want. leaveitallbehind Posted May 11 #4 Share Posted May 11 As inferred, there really is no way to know what the packages will be on board, but it is safe to say they likely will be more than if purchased in advance on the planner. Please understand as well that any price offered on the planner, if lower after purchase, can be canceled and rebought at the lower price without penalty up to 2 days prior to sailing. IMO it typically is best to buy it pre-cruise v on board.
Cruise a holic Posted May 11 #5 Share Posted May 11 You have to calculate if it is worth it- if your cruise is port intensive- you will definately drink less- also typically first couple of days people drink more then slow down. Just do the math- sometimes considering free non alcoholic drinks available, just paying for a few drinks might work for you. Do the math. Some like the idea of no hassel and take the package. Like the pre-cruise planner, on board you may have discounts. If you know for sure you will buy it, buy it pre-cruise and if by rare chance it’s lower on board, cancel (you will get refundable OBC) and buy it on board. As others have shared, there is no real way to know the "real" price is of the beverage package. Regardless it is definitely more once you are onboard than if purchased pre-cruise. If you've done the math ("break even" seems to be roughly 4-6 drinks/day...alcohol, non-alcoholic, bottled water, etc.) and/or the convenience is what appeals to you...go ahead and purchase through the cruise planner online. 18% gratuities will be added to the purchase price and everyone 21+ in the cabin must purchase it if even just one person does. If there happens to be someone in the cabin 21+ who does not drink alcohol...there can be ways around it...but generally involves a call to RCCL and possibly the purchase of a non-alcoholic package instead for that individual. If you DO decide to purchase the package pre-cruise and you happen to notice that the price goes down before you sail...you can easily cancel your previous order (refund comes back to your CC in a few days) and you can re-purchase at the lower price. Again...no clear answer, but all decisions for you as far as what makes the most sense for you, your budget, and your preferences. wezie Posted May 19 Author #8 Share Posted May 19 If I decided to wait until I am onboard to purchase the drink package, how much will it be? Do they run any deals on board?
