Hi all,

For those cruisers who have sailed on the meraviglia what did you love about the ship?

I'm doing the cruise itinerary that goes to Port Canaveral,  Nassau and Ocean Cay.

I loved the indoor promenade area where they perform a laser light show on the ceiling throughout the evening.  This area is a hub of activity in the evening and has a great vibe.  I also enjoyed all of the Yacht Club areas.

I did not like the casino lay out or the fact that is was hot in there.  I know you didn't ask about dislikes but I thought I'd throw it in there!

I like the entertainment; I love the pizza; the decor; they generally stay in the port later than other cruise lines; if you're in YC, the pool deck and breakfast/lunch buffets

Sounds like you're sailing out of NY,,,,,,,,,

Absolute favorite:

The pizza, oh, and the pizza, but most importantly, the pizza!!!

The rest of the Meraviglia

Most of the things that others have mentioned. Additionally:

- The Meraviglia bar - I found the bartenders there to be the friendliest and most helpful. Plus I really enjoyed most of the activities that they did there.

- The Bamboo Bar - The fresh juices were amazing!

- The free board games. You can borrow board games to play during your cruise. They even had some real strategy games.

- Many of the staff members seemed so happy. It didn't feel fake, or forced, it felt real. They were happy to be there helping make my vacation more enjoyable.

- The bar next to customer service. The staff there was awesome, and depending on the day, the location was too. Sometimes it was a bit crowded though.

- Finally, I truly enjoyed the entertainment staff performances. They really stepped up to the plate and hit so many home runs! I enjoyed their enthusiasm and the random performances in the atrium.

One huge dislike

The gelato place. The staff was rude and tried to charge me twice. The prices were very high for what you got. I'll never go back there again.

Compared to other cruise lines, they had the best desserts.  Even at the buffet, the desserts looked kinda plain but were phenomenal.  Also, the coffee at the buffet was the best I have ever had on a cruise ship.  Same goes for the soft serve ice cream available at limited times by the pool.  It was Carvel (for you East coasters) quality.  The cabin size was also larger than others.  Our balcony cabin sofa could have easily sat four.  However, the cabin storage was lacking.

We've been four times.  All YC.  Pizza but all in fleet have it and very consistently good.  Either order to room or sit at table by station and wait for a hot one.

Hola's and BC.  The Brass Anchor has always been fun.  Last YC dining experience was very sub par.

Oh, I forgot to mention the outdoor seating off the back of the buffet. That is a lovely place for a buffet meal.

This thread is making me very excited to be back on the Meraviglia in October and January. I haven't sailed on her since October of last year.

Another thing I loved on the Meraviglia for that October sailing last year was my cute little studio balcony. Not many people will get to experience those since there are only four on the entire ship, but it was a great little room for a solo cruiser and the balcony was HUGE and had an amazing wake view.

I didn't know they had solo Balconies, that's cool!

Was Hola worth the extra fees?

I love your list! Do you have to pay to use the spa salt room on the trip?

Definitely! I believe it's something like $18 for all-you-can-eat, but I only made that mistake once! Individual tacos are under ~$3 each. After my one trip, I have been able to eat there for about $7 and be quite full by the end.

Where is "a table by station"?  One of my disappointments in YC Trip #2 was that they no longer delivered pizza to the pool deck.   For YC Trip #3, if I can't get it by the pool deck...I'll have it delivered to the room and take it to the pool myself....unless this "table by the station" is more convenient.

If you’re Aurea level it’s included along with the whole spa (it’s really nice).  If not, I believe you can pay for day passes.

I cannot believe that the mozzarella has not been mentioned. I was such a big thing when the Mera started. I loved to join the crowd too 🙂

My husband is obsessed with the fresh mozzarella!

Love this thread bc I love the Meraviglia and will be back on her in September. The Horizon pool on deck 16 at the back of the ship is my happy place! And if you like Mexican food you MUST try Hola's. It is very reasonably priced as well as delicious!

I agree on the desserts especially (and all the other food and beverage things you said).  They didn’t look all that great but they tasted fantastic.  Never had a bad one.  One other cruise lines the desserts looked beautiful but had no taste; very bland and boring.  The cabins are definitely bigger than other lines but yes the storage does indeed stink.

Brass Anchor Pub - usually an evening entertainment such as guitar player, people don’t discover it til later in cruise, fun relaxing place, can order food for a fee such as hamburger or fish’nchips which are prepared in Butcher’s Cut Steakhouse.

Great place to watch NFL games during the NFL season as well! Full bar in addition to beers you can't find elsewhere on the ship.
