kokopelli-az Posted August 30 #1 Share Posted August 30 Since I can't find this answered somewhere (but I suspect it has been) can I drop off items in my stateroom before it is ready (before 1pm). This would be on embarkation day. I just want to drop off stuff and leave...

Rare RobInMN Posted August 30 #4 Share Posted August 30 Officially, "no!" You will get responses from people that will say they do it, and it's no big deal. But to do so, you have to open the doors that they have explicitly closed for a reason. The hallways are also a disaster and not in any condition to be traversed by random passengers. There's room steward carts and dirty bed linens and towels piled up and multi0colored laundry bags all over. We did Star class once, and it was in a 2 BR Aqua Theater suite. As part of Star Class, the Genie will escort you to your room ahead as soon as you board. For us, that meant the entire length of the aft hallway. That's the only reason I've seen this. Even with our Genie escorting us, I felt guilty for potentially being in anyone's way. Don't do it. 6

Book a Celebrity cruise. They allow you drop to off any carryon(s) and request you leave until the general announcement is made that cabins are ready. Around 1:PM. The cabin attendant knows who the B2B cruisers are and makes those rooms up as soon as they are vacated. At least that has always been our experiences on all our B2B cruises. We cruise with Celebrity almost exclusively and always drop off things in the stateroom early. However, this time we will be on Royal . . . At least I hope they have luggage valet ! We like the similarities and differences between Celebrity and RC. Edited August 30 by doghog

That's true, but didn't sound like it applied to the OP.

Annie01 Posted August 30 #12 Share Posted August 30 Get the Key and you can drop off your carryon stuff (by 1:30) when you board and they will bring it to your stateroom.
smokeybandit Posted August 30 #13 Share Posted August 30 Easy solution: don't bring any carry ons, check everything. 1

Not recommended with personal items, jewelry, and medications. But to your point certainly those items should be able to fit in a small carry on that would not be difficult to keep with you until the rooms are ready. Which in our experience typically is by 1 or so.

Just if someone is put off by the idea that they can't drop off carry ons to their rooms, then there must not be anything in their carry ones critical enough not to put in checked luggage. We specifically have medical supplies that need to be kept with us and can't be checked. Additionally, we have a wheelchair that needs to be dropped off in the stateroom and a mobility scooter picked up from the room.

We've never had a second thought dropping off my small backpack. Never been a problem on Celebrity. We lock any valuables I carry in my backpack in the safe. My wife keeps her pocketbook with her. I don't think those things go together. I want my medicines and electronics with me, too much can happen between dropping with the porters and ending up in the room. If *I* put things in the room, I know they got there. Once in the room, they're no more secure than they are during the remainder of the cruise. All we have is a small light tote bag that we carry with us with meds and passports etc. We keep it with us and by the time we finish lunch the rooms are usually open.

Wheelchairs and scooters won't be easy to maneuver with carts, vacuums, and laundry bags in the hallways.
