Who to contact at Princess about new cruise contract policy?

I do not smoke or vape, but I work with people who do and even though they are supposed to go outside to vape I see employees sneaking it in the building so even with Princess allowing vaping in cabins I wouldn't be surprised a lot of them are already doing even on balconies the same for hotels as well so banning it  now is not going to make a difference just they don't have to worry about getting caught.  The only way to stop the vaping on board would be to ban it altogether not allowing passengers to board with the vaping equipment.  princess is probably just allowing it because they don't want to police it.

Even Princess' site is not self-consistent.   The FAQ page clearly states it is not permitted.

Yes, the FAQ page specifically states e-cigarettes aren't allowed to be used in staterooms.  The Travel Summary just says smoking isn't allowed, no changes there either.

I have not heard about this on 2024 cruises yet?

It's in the Passage Contract for our December 2024 cruise from Port Canaveral.  Looks like it's effective as of July 2024.  The only good thing is that as of now it's only in the fine print.  The FAQs and Travel Summary still say it's not allowed.  So unless people are actually reading the Passage Contract - or this Cruise Critic thread - they would have no idea that vaping is allowed in cabins.

I think that the difference is occasionally sneaking a vape vs. chain vaping.  All of our vapers go outside.  If you have rules, it requires enforcement otherwise you do not have rules...

We could apply this to other areas of life, but once things are legal you see a lot more of it.

  1. Sent my email saying in the future I will take my money elsewhere. If they want to condone this nasty habit and put guests and staff at risk of the secondhand effects, at least they could isolate it to a few floors/sections of the vessels.

This passage contract is new to me as I have not paid it much attention and always just said I agree.  I wanted to see what it says for my upcoming cruise, leaving Buenos Aires, but I can't.  The check mark It is grayed out and can not go further.  Is that because I already agreed?  I don't really use the App, but I am able to access the version on the website.  How are you all able to see the passage contract for your booked cruise? I just found a passage contract with no mention of countries.  Can anyone direct me to what section has the smoking policy

I am another person NOT in favor of this "vaping in cabin" policy.  I am in the Ewwwwww camp.  I would be quite put out if I enterd my cabin to be greeted with a left over vape smell.  I am allergic to cigarette smoke and have to stay clear of the casino and smoking areas.  Princess needs to limit vaping to the smoking areas or sell cabins specifically for vapers.

You should be able to see it on the website.  Go to the page where you would find your Travel Summary or Luggage Tags, scroll down and you should see a link to the Passage Contract.  It's in Section 5.

I am an ex smoker and don't use any tobacco or vape products.  However, I find I am really not that concerned about being around people who are vaping, let alone the fact that they were vaping in the cabin well before I arrived there.  It isn't that I love the idea, it is that I am almost completely unconcerned.

Thank You @azbirdmom  I found it and for my specific South America/Antarctica cruise dec 2024 it read like this: like others

The use of electronic cigarettes, personal vaporizers, or electronic nicotine delivery systems is allowed within the confines of the Guest's stateroom (balcony not included) and within designated smoking areas only.

I would not even think of cancelling over this policy.  BUT, If it were to happen, that I enter my vaped in smelly cabin Princess better be prepared to provide me a neutral/non smelly cabin to move to.  Not a great policy IMO, YMMV.  I hope the emails we send will make them think about it a bit more.

@dockman asked about the policy change on the now closed thread, I wasn't able to respond as it closed. It is permitted in cabins.

I saw the tv message on the Crown, which I'm currently sailing on.

I hadn't seen that but have now.  So it's advertised on ships and in the Passage Contract.  FAQs and Travel Summary indicate it's not allowed.  Sigh.

Thank you.  I posted the same on the Celebrity board and poof.  Here is the language.  I welcome all thoughts.  This is for a June 2026 Norwegian Fjords cruise.  I would prefer not to cancel.

Twenty-one posts until you shared your concern. That's gotta be a record. 🤪

I wish all of you would complain about smoking in the casino instead.

It will be interesting to know how Princess will deal with asthmatic individuals or those sensitive to smoke when they check in to a stateroom that had previously been occupied by a vaper? Will Princess do a top to bottom thorough cleaning of the cabin and/or offer a compensation for a medical visit?

I cannot find anything in my contract about smoking.

Is anyone else in the UK and sailing from Southampton on here that can see it and tell me what section of the contract to look at?  I am wondering if I am just not seeing it or if UK contracts do not have it in there.  I also do not see anything about bringing on alcohol.

I also cannot find anything in my contract about smoking. I followed the advice above and found the Passage Contract on the website in My Booking. But section 5 is not about smoking. So I read further and cannot find it.

I then did an internet search for the Princess Cruises Passage Contract and found a completely different one on the website, with section 5 about smoking and alcohol..

Now I am completely confused 😕

Well this is interesting.  I asked Mr. Google about e-cigarette policies by cruise line and this is what came back:

ETA:  Never mind, checked one and the above wasn't accurate!

Always do on our surveys and it never helps.  Why not bring back NS on formal nights in the casino?

@laslomas and @Mara4166 You have to be logged in, got to manage booking then look for "legal & privacy" then click on Passage Contract.

You have to choose the right one for the area you will be cruising in.  (they are different)

For me there is one on the web and it is paragraph 5) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS; DRINKING; TOBACCO; GAMING; RECREATIONAL FACILITIES; ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.

You can also access it on the app. On the app my contract is different but the actual paragraph has the same conditions.  The relevant issue is in paragraph 30) Smoking and Vaping.

To be clear, your website contract and the App BOTH say vaping/e-cigarettes are prohibited in cabins and balconies?

TIA

Yes that is right.

"Except where specified smaoking and vaping is not permitted indoors on any of Our ships. This includes shaterooms and on private balconies."
